What is the website for unemployment NYS Department of Labor benefits?
I need to file for unemployment benefits but can't figure out what website to use. I keep seeing different links when I search online and I'm worried about using the wrong one. Can someone tell me the official NYS Department of Labor website for unemployment? I don't want to accidentally give my information to some scam site.

The official website is my.ny.gov - that's where you'll access your NYS Department of Labor unemployment account. You can file your initial claim, submit weekly claims, and check your payment status all through that portal. Make sure you're on the .gov site, not any .com versions.

•Thank you! I was seeing some .org sites in my search results and wasn't sure if they were legitimate.

You can also go directly to labor.ny.gov for general information about unemployment benefits, but for actually filing claims and managing your account, you'll need to use my.ny.gov. The labor site has good FAQs and explanations of the process before you start filing.

•This is really helpful! I was confused about why there were two different government sites. So labor.ny.gov is for information and my.ny.gov is where I actually file?

•Exactly! Think of labor.ny.gov as the information center and my.ny.gov as the actual application portal where you'll do all your unemployment business with NYS Department of Labor.

I had such a hard time getting through to NYS Department of Labor when I needed help with my account login issues. If you run into problems with the website or need to talk to someone, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to a real person at NYS Department of Labor. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of trying to call myself.

•Interesting, never heard of that before. Did they charge you anything for it?

•They do charge but it was worth it for me since I couldn't get through any other way and needed to resolve my claim quickly.

Just to add - when you're on my.ny.gov, look for the 'Unemployment Services' section. Don't get confused by all the other services they offer on that site like SNAP or Medicaid. The unemployment section is clearly labeled.
