Do I get back pay for unemployment benefits from NYS Department of Labor?
I just got approved for unemployment after waiting 5 weeks for my claim to go through adjudication. My effective date shows as when I first filed but I haven't received any payments yet. Does NYS Department of Labor automatically send back pay for all those weeks I was waiting? I'm really behind on bills and need to know if I'll get the money for those 5 weeks or if I missed out because of the delay.
