Tell her to be prepared for the job search requirements too. Even with partial unemployment, she'll need to be actively looking for work and keep a log of her job search activities. NYS Department of Labor requires a certain number of work search contacts each week.
I had similar confusion when I was dealing with my unemployment claim last year. Couldn't get through to anyone at NYS Department of Labor for weeks to ask about this stuff. Finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Really saved me a lot of headache trying to get answers about my job search requirements.
Wait, can you even get unemployment if you're pregnant? I thought that automatically disqualified you since you're not available for full-time work.
You should also look into whether your employer offers short-term disability benefits. Sometimes that's a better option than unemployment for pregnancy-related leave, especially if you plan to return to work after the baby is born. UI benefits might complicate your return to work timeline.
ugh the payment delays are THE WORST!! happened to me twice already this year and both times it was just random system glitches that fixed themselves after a couple days. still super annoying when you're counting on that money though
Sometimes banks have their own processing delays too, especially if there's a holiday coming up or if you recently changed your direct deposit information. Have you contacted your bank to see if they're holding the deposit for any reason? Also worth double checking that your bank account info is still correct in your NYS Department of Labor profile.

ugh the whole system is so frustrating though!! even when you have good cause they make you jump through so many hoops and the adjudication takes FOREVER. I've been waiting 4 weeks just to hear back about my claim and can't get through to anyone at NYS Department of Labor on the phone

•I had the same problem trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor about my adjudication status. Ended up using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me through to a real person in like 20 minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Honestly saved my sanity because I was getting nowhere calling myself.

•Wait seriously? How much does something like that cost? I'm already broke from not working.

File the claim ASAP regardless! Even if your initial claim gets denied, you'll have your application date locked in. The appeals process exists for exactly these situations where there's good cause for quitting. Don't let anyone tell you not to apply just because you quit - that's not how it works with NYS Department of Labor.
