Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. I've been trying to get through to NYS Department of Labor for weeks about my claim status and it's impossible! The phone lines are always busy and when I do get through I get disconnected. Has anyone found a way to actually talk to someone there?

The NYS Department of Labor system is so slow compared to other states. My friend in Florida got her first check in 10 days. Here it's like they want you to suffer while they take their sweet time processing everything.

One thing nobody told me when I started - if your claim goes into adjudication (which mine did for some random reason), it can take WEEKS to get resolved. Just be patient and keep filing your weekly claims even if you're not getting paid yet.
What does adjudication mean exactly?
Adjudication means they're reviewing your claim for some reason - could be verifying your employment history, reason for separation, or eligibility. During this time your claim is on hold but you should still file weekly.

Yeah I was skeptical too but it actually worked. I needed to check on why my claim was taking so long to process and couldn't get through the normal way.

The 10 day thing is misleading because employers can also contest your claim even after responding initially. Had mine dragged out for 6 weeks because my employer kept submitting additional 'evidence' about my termination. NYS Department of Labor has to review everything they send.
