Speaking of getting help with claims - I was stuck trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor for weeks about my adjudication status. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that gets you through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me so much frustration compared to calling and getting busy signals all day.
Before you make the trip, you might want to try calling the main NYS Department of Labor line first. Sometimes they can resolve identity verification issues over the phone if you have the right documentation. I know getting through can be frustrating with their high call volume, but there's actually a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps people get connected to NYS Department of Labor agents faster. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Might save you the trip if they can handle it remotely.
Never heard of that service before. Is it legit? I'm always skeptical of third-party services for government stuff.
The whole system is such a mess honestly. Why can't they just have better online verification like every other government agency has figured out by now? Making people drive to offices for basic ID verification in 2025 is ridiculous.
Had a really hard time getting through to NYS Department of Labor on the phone when I had questions about my claim timing. Kept getting busy signals or getting hung up on after waiting forever. Finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Saved me hours of frustration trying to get my questions answered about filing deadlines and claim status.
yeah its mandatory cant get out of it. been paying unemployment tax for 15 years and never used it but whatever

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO CUT PEOPLE OFF! They don't want you to know your rights or how to extend benefits. 26 weeks isn't enough when there's no decent jobs out there. I've been fighting with NYS Department of Labor for months about my case.

•I understand the frustration, but there are legitimate ways to get help navigating the system. The rules exist for a reason, even if they're not always explained clearly.

Here's what you need to know about the 26-week limit: It's calculated from when you first started receiving benefits, not from when you filed. So if there was any delay in processing your claim, those weeks still count toward your 26. Also, if you work part-time while collecting, those weeks still count toward your limit even if you're getting reduced benefits. Make sure you understand exactly where you are in your benefit year.

•That's really helpful - I didn't realize the processing delay still counted against my 26 weeks. That explains why I'm closer than I thought.
