I received mine this morning even though the portal said the 21st. They seem to be sending them out in batches based on the last digit of your SS number. My wife's is scheduled for the 23rd (her SS ends in 7) while mine ends in 2. Anyone notice a pattern with the last digit of their SS and scheduled dates?
mine ends in 5 and scheduled for 20th
Just wanted to follow up - has anyone scheduled for the 20th received their refund early? I'm helping my mom track hers too (she's not great with technology) and hers is also showing the 20th.
Nothing yet on my end. Still showing as scheduled for the 20th in the portal and nothing in my bank account. Starting to get nervous since I have rent due on the 21st...
I'm so confused about all this unemployment stuff!! I got approved then denied then approved again and nobody could tell me why?? The whole system is just so complicated and the website never works right on my phone. Hope your aunt has better luck than me!
Update: I talked to my aunt and she logged into her account. Everything looks legit! Her claim information is there with all her correct personal details and work history. The benefit amount matches what she got previously too. Thanks everyone for your help! She's going to start certifying this Sunday and see if the payment comes through normally.
That's excellent news. Just make sure she continues to meet all eligibility requirements and certifies on time each week. The auto-renewal is a newer program, so it's understandable that she was skeptical at first.
Does anyone know if they're going to start accepting Venmo? That would be more convenient for me than PayPal.
Update: I called NYSDOL this morning and finally got through after trying for 3 days. The agent confirmed that Chime and several other online banks have been permanently removed from their approved deposit institutions list. They said it's due to an increase in fraudulent activities using these platforms. So I'll stick with PayPal for now, even though it takes longer to get my money. Thanks everyone for your help!
Update: I tried the 8am trick but still got the busy message. Then I tried that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and IT WORKED! They called me back in about 25 minutes and had an unemployment agent on the line. The agent fixed my issue in less than 10 minutes - turns out there was a verification flag on my account that was holding everything up. My payments should resume this week. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
For anyone else finding this thread with similar issues, here are some additional tips for reaching NY Unemployment in 2025: 1. Use the online message system for non-urgent matters 2. Try calling at 8:00am sharp or between 2:30-3:30pm on Tuesdays or Wednesdays 3. If your issue is urgent and affecting payment, consider the Claimyr service mentioned above 4. Contact your state assembly member or state senator's office for assistance 5. Check if there's a temporary callback feature available (NYSDOL sometimes activates this during high volume periods) 6. Make sure you're calling the correct number for your specific issue (regular UI vs. specialized claims have different contact lines) Hope this helps others navigating the system!
This is actually really helpful, thank you. I've been telling people about the 8am trick but the 2:30-3:30 Tuesday/Wednesday window is new info to me. Will try that next time!

UPDATE: The second half of my refund just hit my account this morning! Exactly 6 business days after the first payment. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance. For anyone dealing with this same issue, just be patient and keep an eye on your account.

•Great news! The system is working as expected in your case. For others still waiting beyond the 7-day window, I'd recommend contacting NYSDOL directly as there might be an additional verification needed for your specific case.

This reminds me of when they messed up my entire claim last year. Said I was getting $482/week but only paid $241 for like 6 weeks. Turned out they had me classified wrong in the system. Called like 50 times before getting someone who fixed it AND got me backpay. Government efficiency at its finest lol
