Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. NY unemployment claim disappeared after certifying on Sunday - payment missing

I certified for my NY unemployment benefits this past Sunday like normal, but my payment never showed up. When I logged in today to check the status, my entire claim seems to have disappeared from my account! There's no record of my certification or anything. Has this happened to anyone else recently? I'm freaking out because I really need this money for rent next week. I tried calling the NYSDOL but of course can't get through to an actual person. 😩😩

I work in IT (not for unemployment lol) and this sounds like a database sync issue to me. Their systems probably have temporary problems connecting to your account data. I'd give it 24-48 hours before panicking.

UPDATE: My claim is back! It suddenly reappeared this morning. Looks like it was just system maintenance after all. Payment is pending and should arrive tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions!

NY unemployment claim stuck in review due to misconduct from previous employer - never filed against them?

It's been 4 weeks now since my fiancé filed his NY unemployment claim. He finally spoke with someone today at unemployment and she said his current claim (filed against his most recent employer) had been responded to, but the claim is still stuck in review. Apparently, an employer he worked for BEFORE his most recent job reported that he was fired for misconduct! The thing is, he never even filed for unemployment against that previous employer. When he left that job, he just went out and found another job right away. The representative said from what she was seeing, he would be eligible based on what his former (most recent) employer had returned. She said she was sending his claim over as "priority" to be reviewed. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Can a previous employer from years ago really hold up his current claim even though he never filed against them? How long does the "priority review" usually take?

my brother works at the DOL and says they are SUPER backlogged right now because of some computer system update gone wrong. priority might not mean much tbh

Just one more thing to consider - make sure your fiancé continues to certify for benefits every week while waiting for the review to complete. Many people make the mistake of stopping certification during pending reviews, but he should continue doing his weekly certifications as normal. If approved, he'll receive all backdated payments for properly certified weeks.

NY unemployment tax confusion - was the $10,200 tax break included in my 2025 refund?

Does anyone know if I'll still get the NY unemployment tax break refund separately? My taxes were filed after they announced the $10,200 unemployment income wouldn't be taxed, but I'm totally confused about whether that adjustment was already calculated in my federal refund or if I'm supposed to get a separate payment. You need to request a corrected 1099-G. Try using the message system in your NY.gov account, specifically selecting "Tax Form" as the subject. NY unemployment form deadline confusion - email said Dec 1 but letter says today?

I'm totally confused about when my unemployment DocuSign form is actually due. I got an email from NY unemployment that clearly stated December 1st, 2025 was the deadline to submit it. But now I just received a letter in the mail saying it's due TODAY! Which one is correct? Has anyone else gotten conflicting deadlines like this? I'm freaking out because I was planning to finish it this weekend but now I'm worried I'll lose my benefits if I don't submit it immediately.

I had to fill out that form last month too. Took me forever to figure out how to do the signature part correctly. Make sure you click the yellow tabs and actually type your name in the signature field rather than just clicking next. Mine got rejected the first time because I didn't complete all the signature spots correctly.

Update: I submitted the form last night around 9pm and got the DocuSign confirmation email. Checked my portal this morning and it shows as received! Thanks everyone for your help and quick responses. Such a relief!
