If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I had a nightmare trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor when my claim got stuck in adjudication for weeks. Kept calling and either got busy signals or hung up on after waiting for hours. Finally found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to a real person at the unemployment office. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Worth it if you run into issues and need to talk to someone.

Thanks for the tip! Hopefully I won't need it but good to know there's a backup option if I can't get through.

Just want to add that you should definitely file sooner rather than later because unemployment benefits are not retroactive to when you became eligible - they only start from when you actually file your claim. So even if you're nervous about the process, don't wait.

If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor to set up the tax withholding, I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an agent quickly. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Was way easier than sitting on hold for hours trying to reach someone.

How much does something like that cost? I just need to change my withholding settings.

I think it's worth checking out their site for pricing info. For me it was worth it just to avoid the endless phone calls and busy signals when trying to reach NYS Department of Labor directly.

Just remember you'll get a 1099-G form from NYS Department of Labor in January showing your total benefits received for the year. You'll need this when filing your taxes.

I had trouble reaching NYS Department of Labor to ask similar questions about my claim. After weeks of busy signals, I found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that connects you directly to unemployment agents. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Really helped me get through to someone who could explain the whole employer tax vs. benefits timeline. Much easier than trying to call on my own.

Thanks for sharing that! I've been trying to call for days with no luck. Might give this a try.

wait so if employers pay quarterly, what happens if they go out of business? do we still get benefits?? this is making me nervous about my situation

0 coins

Yes, you still get benefits even if your employer goes out of business. The unemployment insurance fund is maintained by NYS Department of Labor and doesn't depend on any single employer staying in business. That's the whole point of the insurance system.

The system is so confusing honestly. I've been collecting for 2 months and still not sure if I'm doing the job search thing right. They want 3 activities but what if you apply to 10 jobs in one day - does that count as 10 activities or just 1? And networking events - how do you even document those properly?

0 coins

Each job application counts as one activity, so 10 applications = 10 activities. For networking, you document the event name, date, contacts made, etc. Keep it detailed.

One thing that tripped me up - you have to report ANY income, even if it's just $20 from a side gig. I thought small amounts didn't matter but they reduce your benefits dollar for dollar after the first $50. Better to report everything than get hit with an overpayment later.

0 coins

Don't forget you can get benefits for up to 26 weeks typically, so that $504 weekly adds up. Just make sure you're doing your job search requirements - they're pretty strict about that now. You need to do 3 work search activities per week and keep a log.

The system is so confusing though! I thought the amount was based on what you made in your last job but apparently it's some complicated calculation from multiple quarters? Why can't they just make it simple like a percentage of your last paycheck??

0 coins

It's based on your base period earnings, which is usually the first 4 of the last 5 completed quarters before you file. They use your highest quarter during that period. It's designed to account for seasonal work variations and give a more stable calculation.
