Will offset affect my DDD (direct deposit date) for tax refund?

My transcript shows a direct deposit date but I know I have an offset. Anyone know if the date will stay the same? The offset is for a student loan that went into default last year. Getting mixed answers when I call the treasury offset number.

Yes, the DDD will stay the same. The Treasury Offset Program (TOP) processes happen before the deposit date. They'll just reduce your refund amount by the offset amount and deposit the remainder on your scheduled date.

If offset > refund, you'll get $0. They'll apply whatever they can to the debt

Hey, you should check out taxr.ai - it's seriously a game changer for understanding exactly what's happening with your refund and offset situation. Its only $1 and way better than playing detective with your transcript. The AI tells you exactly what's going on and when youll get paid.

Is this legit? How does it work exactly?

100% legit. You upload your transcript and it breaks down everything - offset amounts, processing stages, expected dates. Way clearer than the IRS site

Just tried it - holy cow where has this been all my life?! So much better than trying to decode these transcripts myself 🙌

Make sure to call the TOP number again closer to your DDD. Sometimes the amounts change and you might get more than you expect!

tbh the whole offset system is ridiculous. they take forever to process our refunds but can snatch that money for debts real quick 🤡
