WMR System Saying My Info is Wrong After Weeks of 'Still Processing'
Smh..so my taxes were filed and accepted on 2/9, I have been checking the status consistently and receiving the same "still processing" message. Now, I checked last night and they're telling me the same information I have been putting in to check my status, is now the incorrect information. I went back to my tax filing software to make sure I was putting in the right information and it's correct. Anyone have this issue?

This happens more often than you'd think during peak processing season. The WMR tool sometimes glitches when your return moves between processing stages. A few possibilities: 1. Your return might have moved to a different processing department 2. The system could be updating your information 3. There might be identity verification needed I'd suggest checking your tax transcript through the IRS website if you have an account - it's more reliable than WMR and shows actual processing codes.

The same thing happened to me! I was checking daily for like 3 weeks with the same "still processing" message, then suddenly it said my info was wrong. I panicked and called the IRS but couldn't get through to anyone. I ended up using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get past the busy signals and actually talk to someone. The agent told me my return had just moved to the next processing stage and the WMR system sometimes glitches during that transition. Got my deposit about a week later.

•Thank you! Did they say why it was taking so long? I'm getting worried since it's been over a month now.

•They told me they're just backed up this year. The agent said as long as your return was accepted, it's in their system. The WMR error usually happens right before it updates with good news!

Have you tried checking your tax transcript instead of using WMR? I've found it's much more reliable and gives actual processing codes instead of vague status bars. You can access it through the IRS website if you have an account set up.

•I tried but couldn't get verified for an account. Something about my phone not being in my name or something.

•If you can't access your transcript directly, I'd recommend using taxr.ai to help interpret what's happening with your return. It can analyze the information you have and give you a better idea of where things stand. Really helped me understand my situation when I was stuck in processing limbo last month.

This is actually a good sign! When WMR says your info is suddenly incorrect after previously working, it usually means your return is moving to the final stages of processing. I've seen this happen to dozens of people (I work in tax prep), and most get their refunds within 7-10 days after this glitch happens. It's just the system being weird during updates.

•That's a relief to hear! I was worried something was wrong with my return.

Check if you claimed any credits like the Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit. Those automatically get additional review and can take longer. Also, if your refund is large (over $10k), that can trigger additional verification steps.

I've been dealing with IRS returns for years and this "info incorrect" message after weeks of "still processing" is actually very common. It typically happens when your return moves from one department to another or when they're about to issue your refund. The system basically hiccups during the transition. I'd give it another 5-7 days before getting too concerned.

I experienced the exact same thing last year! Filed in early February, got "still processing" for about 3 weeks, then suddenly the WMR system started saying my information was incorrect. I was panicking thinking someone had stolen my identity or something was wrong with my return. But it turned out to be just a system glitch - got my refund deposited about 10 days after that error message first appeared. The IRS systems are honestly pretty outdated and this seems to be a common bug when returns move between processing stages. Try not to stress too much about it, your return is probably fine and just moving through their internal processes.
