Transcript showing 570/971 codes - Never seen this before on my annual filing
Just checked my transcript and got codes I've never seen before. Been filing the exact same way for years, nothing changed in my situation at all. Now I'm seeing these weird codes and my refund is delayed. Anyone know what this means or gone through this? Starting to get worried.

Those codes (570/971) typically indicate that the IRS has placed a hold on your account and sent you a notice. The 570 is a refund hold and 971 means they mailed you a letter explaining why. Check your mail carefully over the next couple weeks. Could be something simple like identity verification or they need additional documentation.

Sometimes it's random selection for review. Other times it could be because someone else's info triggered something in your return. The IRS systems are... special 🤡

Check your wage and income transcript. Sometimes employers submit wrong info or late W2s and that triggers these codes.

Just wait for the notice in the mail. Don't call the IRS - they'll just tell you to wait for the letter anyway. Trust me, been there done that 🤦♂️
