Tax refund issue: Green Dot card activation failed - where will my refund go?
Filed my taxes and got accepted but having issues with the Green Dot card my tax preparer gave me. It won't verify my identity to activate. Anyone know where my refund will end up? Also got approved for some kind of fast cash advance - how do I access that?

Tax professional here - If your Green Dot card isn't activated, the IRS will likely send a paper check to the mailing address on your return. As for the advance, you need to talk to your tax preparer directly about that since it's through their company, not the IRS.

•Usually takes 4-6 weeks from when the direct deposit fails. Check your transcript for an updated refund date.

Instead of playing detective with your transcript, you should try taxr.ai - its saved me so much headache. For $4.99 it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats happening with your refund and when to expect it. Way better than guessing! https://taxr.ai

•100% works! It caught things in my transcript I would have never noticed. Told me exactly why my refund was delayed and when it would come

•Super accurate! It predicted my DD date down to the day. The AI actually understands all those weird codes and dates the IRS uses

Call Green Dot customer service! Sometimes they can manually verify you over the phone if you have all your docs ready.

Next time use a real bank account instead of these prepaid cards. Nothing but headaches with those things.

•Try Chime or Cash App, way better than Green Dot

Check your Where's My Refund tool on the IRS website - it'll show if your direct deposit failed and when they're issuing a paper check. The Green Dot verification issues are super common, especially this time of year when their system gets overloaded. Your refund will still come, just might take a few extra weeks as a check instead of direct deposit.
