Tax Topic 152 Showing But No DDD - Anyone Else?
Been checking WMR daily and all I'm getting is tax topic code 152 and 'refund received' status. No deposit date yet. Filed 3 weeks ago with standard deductions. This is killing my tuition payment timeline. Anyone else stuck with this code but no actual date showing up?

I had the exact same thing happen on March 12th. Tax topic 152 just means your refund is being processed and subject to normal review procedures. My DDD finally showed up on March 28th, so about 16 days after seeing that code. The money hit my account on April 1st, right when I needed it for my spring tuition payment.

Check the IRS2Go app instead of the website - sometimes it updates faster. I've been tracking both simultaneously and noticed the app showed my DDD about 12 hours before the website did. Also, try checking your transcript at irs.gov/transcripts rather than just relying on WMR. The transcript often shows processing steps before WMR updates.

•I've tried both the app and website for weeks now. Did you notice any difference in how frequently they update? I've been checking at 3am because I heard that's when the system refreshes, but maybe that's just an urban myth?

•Thank you for mentioning the transcript option. I hadn't thought to check that. The step-by-step approach is really helpful when you're trying to track everything. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the different options available!

Have you tried calling the IRS? I was in the same boat last month and spent 3 days trying to get through their phone system. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an actual IRS agent in about 25 minutes. They told me my return was just in the normal processing queue and nothing was flagged. Saved me days of anxiety wondering if something was wrong.

•Does this service actually work? According to IRS Publication 5136, the average wait time for Taxpayer Assistance is 23-45 minutes during peak season. Not sure I want to pay for something that might only save me a few minutes of hold time.

I've had tax topic 152 for about 2 weeks now. My sister filed the same day as me and already got her refund last week. The difference was she had a simple return with just W-2 income, while mine had some investment income and a 1099. From what I've seen, the more complex your return, the longer it takes even with the same codes showing. I'm getting a bit worried since I need this money for summer classes.

Went thru this exact thing last yr. Tax topic 152 is usually good news but doesn't tell u much. I finally uploaded my transcript to taxr.ai and it explained all the codes and gave me an estimated DDD based on my processing stage. Super helpful bc the IRS transcript looks like hieroglyphics tbh. Way better than just staring at WMR every day hoping for an update.

•I'm somewhat hesitant about using third-party services with my tax information. Do you perhaps know if they store your transcript data? It seems potentially concerning from a privacy perspective, although I understand the appeal of getting a clearer explanation of the processing stages.

Just got my refund yesterday after seeing tax topic 152 for 17 days! • Filed: February 28 • Tax Topic 152 appeared: March 3 • Transcript updated: March 18 • DDD appeared on WMR: March 19 • Money deposited: March 20 Don't wait any longer - check your transcript NOW! The processing window is closing fast and you need to know if there are any holds on your account!

Does anyone know if having tax topic 152 means you're definitely getting a refund? Or can they still deny it at this stage? This is my first time seeing this code and I'm not sure if I should be relieved or still worried, haha. Also, does checking WMR multiple times a day slow down processing? (Asking for a friend... who might be me 😅

Tax Topic 152 is actually a good sign - it means the IRS has accepted your return and it's moving through their system. You're definitely getting your refund, it's just a matter of when. I've been through this several times and checking WMR constantly doesn't affect processing speed (though it might affect your sanity!). The IRS updates their systems overnight, usually between midnight and 6am, so checking once daily in the morning is plenty. Since you filed 3 weeks ago, you should see movement soon - most returns with Topic 152 get their DDD within 21 days of filing. Hang in there!

•Thank you so much for this reassurance! As someone new to dealing with tax refunds, seeing that code without any clear explanation was really stressing me out. It's good to know that checking constantly won't hurt anything (though you're right about the sanity part - I've probably refreshed WMR about 20 times today alone). I really appreciate you taking the time to break down what Topic 152 actually means and giving that realistic timeline. Makes me feel much better about the whole process!
