California Already Issuing 2023 Tax Refunds - FTB Authorized Mine January 23, 2025

Just got my state refund deposited this morning! Seems like states are moving way faster than the IRS this year. I checked the FTB (California Franchise Tax Board) portal and saw they authorized my refund on Thursday, January 24, b2025. The status shows the whole process - Received ✓, Processing ✓, Issued ✓. The portal said "We authorized your refund on Thursday, January 24, 2025. Please allow: 10 business days to receive your refund by direct deposit, or 25 business days to receive your refund by check. If we made any adjustments to your return, we will notify you by mail." It was super easy to check too - just went to webapp.ftb.ca.gov and used their "Check Your Refund Status" service. They even had a little survey asking what I thought about the service (takes 30 seconds apparently, but I skipped it). Anyone else seeing state refunds coming through already? If you haven't checked your state portal you might have a nice surprise waiting! California seems to be processing pretty quickly this year compared to the IRS. The whole process from filing to deposit was way faster than I expected.
