PATH Act delays? Return stuck on 'still processing' after code 152 - Was accepted Jan 27
Getting really frustrated with these delays. Filed a simple return with one dependent (adult disabled child), no EIC or additional credits, just the $500 dependent credit. Been filing the same way for decades with quick refunds, but last year took 2 months due to ID verification. This year filed Jan 27, got code 152, now stuck on still processing. We're cycle 05. Why are we suddenly having issues after years of smooth sailing?

Based on what you're describing, you're actually not on PATH. The PATH Act mainly affects returns claiming EITC or ACTC, which you aren't claiming. Your delay might be related to the increased identity verification measures IRS has implemented recently. The code 152 is actually a good sign - it means your return is in the normal processing queue.

Hard to say for sure, but typically non-PATH returns are processing faster this year. Keep checking your transcript weekly.
