Filed Jan 18th with PATH credit - anyone verified after this date received their DDD yet?
I e-filed my return on January 18th with PATH credits (EIC and CTC). I had a verification notice on Feb 1st and completed it the same day. My transcript has been stuck on 570 and 971 codes since February 10th. IRS Where's My Refund tool still says processing. Has anyone who filed around the same time and went through verification after January 18th received a direct deposit date yet? The PATH act means we shouldn't get paid before mid-February, but it's already March 5th now and nothing. Starting to get worried since I was counting on this money to pay some bills.

I verified on January 23rd after filing on the 19th (also with EIC). I just received my DDD yesterday for March 8th. The code on my transcript changed from 570/971 to 846. For reference, my cycle code is 20230805. Since you verified on Feb 1st, you might be in the next batch of updates. Check your transcript again this Friday - many people see movement then. If you have a 570 code with a future date, that's often just a temporary hold while they finish processing.

•Thanks for the info! My cycle code is 20230807. Do you think that means I'll see an update this Friday?

•With that cycle code, you should definitely check Friday morning! Those ending in 05 update Thursday night/Friday morning. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

•Wait is the cycle code the best way to predict when you'll get updated? I thought it was just random when they process returns

•The cycle code can give you an idea of when your transcript might update, but it doesn't guarantee when you'll get your refund. The last two digits (05, 07, etc) tell you which day of the week your account updates. 05=Friday updates, 01=Monday etc

•my cycle code is 20230805 too and I verified on Jan 25th but still no DDD 😩 this is so frustrating

•That's weird we have the same cycle code but different outcomes. Did you call? Maybe there's another issue they haven't told you about

I was in the exact same situation and was going crazy trying to figure out what was happening with my taxes. I kept checking WMR and getting the same vague message. Then someone told me about taxr.ai and it was a GAME CHANGER. It actually explained what all those transcript codes mean and gave me a real timeline estimate. It told me exactly why my refund was delayed (missing W2 info) which the IRS site never mentioned. It connects to your IRS account and does a full analysis. SO much better than playing detective with Google and Reddit posts. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

Aisha Jackson
•It does way more than just read it! It analyzes all your transcript codes, explains what they mean in plain English, shows your refund timeline, and tells you if there are issues you need to fix. I was stressing for weeks before using it. Now I know exactly what's happening and when I'll likely get paid. It's like having a tax pro look at your account but without paying $200+ for a consultation.

•sounds like an ad tbh... does it actually work?

•I get the skepticism - I felt the same way at first. But yeah, it actually worked for me. My situation was a 570 hold because of a W2 mismatch (employer reported different amount than what I entered). The tool flagged it immediately and I was able to file an amended return. Already got my partial refund last week!

•just tried it and holy crap it's amazing!! it showed me that my return was flagged for income verification (which i had no idea about). no wonder i've been waiting so long

After three weeks of trying to call the IRS and getting nowhere, I used the Claimyr app (claimyr.com) and it was a total lifesaver. They got me through to a real IRS agent in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days with no luck. The agent told me my return was held up because they needed to verify my identity again even though I already did the ID verify online. They released my refund right there on the phone and I got my DDD the next day. Talking to a real person made all the difference - best money I ever spent to finally get my refund moving!

•Wait I've never heard of this. How does it work? Is it just another phone number or what?

Lindsey Fry
•It's an app that basically navigates the IRS phone tree for you and holds your place in line. When they get an agent, they call you and connect you. I was super skeptical but desperate after trying for weeks. Couldn't believe it actually worked! The agent I talked to fixed my issue in like 10 minutes.

•this sounds too good to be true... the IRS is basically unreachable these days

•I know right? I thought the same thing. But it worked for me and several people in my tax group. It's not magic - you still might wait 30-60 mins sometimes, but it beats the 3+ hours or never getting through at all. And knowing you don't have to sit with the phone to your ear the whole time is a game changer.

I filed on Jan 17, verified on Jan 24, and JUST got my DDD today for March 10th. My transcript was stuck on codes 570/971 for a month. This year is moving slower than normal for early filers with PATH credits. Last year I got my refund Feb 22nd with the same situation.

No one is getting processed until at least Feb 15th if you have EIC or CTC because of the PATH act. Plus verification usually adds 9 weeks to processing time according to the IRS website. So your looking at mid-April probably. Sorry bro the system sucks.

Scarlett Forster
•This is not entirely true. PATH act means they can't ISSUE REFUNDS before mid-February, but they still process returns. And verification doesn't always take 9 weeks - that's worst case. I verified Jan 20 and got my refund Feb 28.

•Ok but most people are waiting 6-8 weeks minimum after verification. Just because you got lucky doesn't mean everyone will. I'm still waiting after verifying on Jan 15th. 🤷♂️

•the 9 weeks is definitely an overestimate. they tell you that so you dont keep calling them every day lol. most people i know got theirs 3-5 weeks after verifying

I filed Jan 19, verified Jan 28, and got my DDD yesterday for March 9. Had codes 570/971 with a March 6 date. It seems like they're moving through January filers now. Look for a 971 notice in your mailbox - I got a CP05 letter saying they were reviewing my return. You don't need to respond to it unless they ask for documents.

Dont lose hop. I fild on the 21th of January with path and got a ID verification letter on february 2nd. completed verification on feb 5th and my transcripts updated yesterday with a DDD of March 12th. It took exactley 30 days from when I verified. The IRS is actually moving pretty quick this year compared to last year when I waited 4 months!

Felicity Bud
•Thanks, that's really helpful info! Did your transcript have any specific codes before it updated with the DDD?
0 coins
Roger Romero
•Yeah it had 570 and 971 just like yours. The 971 was for the letter they sent me. When it updated, those codes stayed but a new 846 code appeared with the refund date.

I was in a similar situation but decided to get proactive. Called the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service at 877-777-4778 instead of the main line. Less wait time and they can actually help move things along if you're experiencing financial hardship. Worth a try!

Check your mail carefully! I was waiting forever until I realized they sent me a letter requesting additional verification that I missed. It was in a really plain envelope that looked like junk mail. After I responded, my refund was processed in about 10 days.

The IRS is absolutely WORTHLESS this year. Ive been verified since January 13th and still nothing. My brother filed on February 5th and already got his money. Makes absolutely no sense. I've called 27 times and can't get through to anyone. I'm about to give up.

My advice - stop checking everyday, it'll drive you insane. I set a calendar reminder to check once a week on Fridays (that's when most transcripts update). The obsessive checking just makes the wait harder. Your money WILL come eventually.

•It's tough when you need the money, I get it! But the obsessive checking won't make it come any faster. I played that game last year and it was awful for my mental health.

Possible unpopular opinion: the whole system is designed to be confusing and frustrating. They have your money interest-free for months while you try to figure out what's happening. If a private company operated this way they'd be out of business in a week. The IRS is like that toxic ex that keeps your stuff and won't tell you when you're getting it back.

•preach! and don't forget - if YOU owe THEM money, they want it immediately with interest and penalties. but if THEY owe YOU, well, just wait patiently for months with zero interest paid to you. makes perfect sense! 🙄

I had a similar situation and struggled to figure out what was happening. I used taxr.ai which connected to my IRS account and showed me EXACTLY why my refund was delayed (missing 1099 form). It gives you way more info than the IRS website ever will. Found out my estimated deposit date is March 17th. Seriously check it out if you're confused about your status - https://taxr.ai

•I agree the IRS tools SHOULD be better but they're not. For me it was worth it to finally understand what was going on instead of being in the dark. I was about to pay an accountant $200 for a consultation so this saved me money in the end!

If your transcripts show code 570 with a future date, that's usually just a processing hold. As long as you don't have a 420 audit code, you're probably fine. Did you get any specific notice code with your 971?
0 coins
Felicity Bud
•The 971 notice is dated 02/10/2023 but I haven't received anything in the mail yet. Is that normal?

Maxwell St. Laurent
•It can take 1-2 weeks for the actual notice to arrive. Could be a CP05 (review) or CP12 (math correction). If it's been more than 2 weeks, you might want to call and ask what the notice was about.

try calling the tax advocate line at 7am EXACTLY when they open. I got through after only a 20 min wait. Regular IRS line is impossible

After being stuck in limbo for weeks, I finally reached an IRS rep through Claimyr (claimyr.com) and found out my return was on hold because of a mismatch with my W2. They never sent me a notice! The agent fixed it on the spot and my refund was released that day. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human - it was seriously the best decision I made after weeks of stress and uncertainty.

•Definitely worth it. The agent told me TONS of returns are stuck in verification right now but they can often clear them immediately once you get someone on the phone.
