Transcript Code 0605 Showing - No Updates Since Verification
Filed my return with proper documentation 21 days ago. Completed identity verification procedure last week per IRS protocol. Transcript showed code 0605 (additional verification complete) but no subsequent updates as of last night's daily processing cycle. Return includes CTC and dependent care expenses. Estimated refund: $5,842. Processing timeline now exceeds standard 21-day window. Anyone experiencing similar delay patterns this tax season?

The 0605 code indicates your identity verification was successfully processed, but per IRS Publication 5027, this doesn't automatically trigger immediate refund processing. Post-verification holds can remain for 7-14 additional business days while the return enters the normal processing queue. Have you checked for the appearance of cycle codes on your account transcript? These typically appear 3-5 days after verification completion.

Exactly right. The verification is just the first step in getting your return back into normal processing. The system has to re-queue your return after verification.

Did you receive any correspondence with a notice number? And have you checked both your account transcript and return transcript? Sometimes one updates before the other, doesn't it? Have you verified the refund amount matches what you calculated?

I went through this exact verification nightmare last month! Waited 9 days after my 0605 code with zero movement. Finally used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed me exactly what was happening. Turns out the 0605 was completed but I needed to wait for the 571 reversal code (which most people don't know to look for š). The tool predicted my DDD would be the following Wednesday... and what do you know, it was! Saved me so much anxiety knowing exactly what was happening behind the scenes.

Does this taxr thing actually work? I've been stuck with verification for 2 weeks now and I'm getting worried. Does it just tell you the same info that's on the transcript?

What specific information does taxr.ai provide about the 0605 code that isn't available on the IRS site? I'm concerned about the post-verification timeframe since my transcript has shown no movement for 10 days after verification.

I've seen several cases where verification was completed but returns still faced extended delays. Here's what typically happens: 1. ID verification completes (0605 code appears) 2. Return enters standard processing queue 3. If you claimed CTC or dependent care credits, an additional review may occur 4. This review can add 14-21 days beyond verification 5. During this time, no transcript updates will appear 6. Suddenly all codes will appear at once when processing completes I had a client last year whose return sat with no updates for 17 days after verification, then suddenly processed with refund issued 3 days later. The waiting period after verification is unfortunately normal but extremely frustrating.

How can you tell if your return is in this additional review phase versus just normal post-verification processing? Are there any indicators on the transcript?

OMG this is EXACTLY what's happening to me right now! I verified my identity 12 days ago and NOTHING has changed on my transcript. I'm freaking out because I need this money for my car payment due next week!!

Quick question about this process: ā¢ Does checking WMR daily affect processing time? ā¢ Is there a specific time when transcript updates occur? ā¢ Would calling the IRS expedite this review period at all?

I had the exact same situation last month - 0605 code but no movement for 9 days. I finally got tired of waiting and used Claimyr to get through to an IRS agent (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c). Got connected in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. The agent confirmed my return was just going through normal post-verification processing and wasn't stuck. Got my DDD exactly 4 days later. Sometimes just knowing nothing is wrong helps with the anxiety of waiting.

I've seen this pattern dozens of times during my years working with tax issues. One alternative approach: check your transcript between 12am-3am EST on Wednesday mornings. That's when many batch processing updates occur in the IRS system. I've noticed returns with CTC often update during this window, particularly if they've already passed verification. This timing has been consistent for the past three tax seasons.

I tracked exactly 37 cases of post-verification delays this season in my tax office. The average wait time between 0605 code and refund was 13.4 days. The longest was 26 days, shortest was 8. Returns with dependent credits (like yours) averaged 16.2 days. Based on this data, you're still within normal parameters, frustrating as it is. If you reach day 21 post-verification with no movement, that's when I'd recommend calling.
