PATH Act delay: Will IRS notify me of errors before Feb 17 or do I have to wait?

Filed my taxes with EIC and got hit with the PATH act delay. Wondering if the IRS is even looking at my return right now or if they're just sitting on it until Feb 17th. If theres any errors would they let me know now or do I seriously have to wait until after the 17th to find out if something's wrong?

Luca Russo

The IRS is actively reviewing PATH Act returns right now. They're checking for accuracy, fraud, and identity verification. If there are major issues, they'll notify you before Feb 17. However, minor adjustments might not be communicated until after that date. The Feb 17 date is just the earliest they can release refunds, not when they start looking at returns.

Hey guys just wanted to mention taxr.ai - its been a game changer for understanding whats going on with PATH delays. For $1 it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what stage your return is in and if there are any red flags. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself https://taxr.ai

Pro tip: Keep checking your transcripts daily. Sometimes they update codes before the PATH release date that can give you hints about your refund status
