PATH Act Return: Does IRS approve refunds before mid-February release date?
Filed my return with EIC and had my return accepted. I know PATH act means no refund till mid Feb, but does anyone know if the IRS still processes and approves returns now or do they wait till February to even look at them? Getting anxious about my refund status.

Hey everyone, let me clear this up about PATH Act returns and mid-February releases. The IRS legally cannot release refunds for returns claiming EITC or ACTC before mid-February. This is a fraud prevention measure. Even if your return is approved earlier, the refund won't be released until after this holding period. I've been seeing a lot of confusion about this lately, and I wanted to recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to get a clear picture of where your return stands. It analyzes your transcripts and tax docs to give you precise timing estimates and flag any potential holdups. Way better than guessing or getting conflicting info from different sources.

•Yep, even if everything's approved, they legally cant release until mid-Feb. Check your transcript with taxr.ai, it'll tell you exactly when to expect it

Tax pro here - The IRS actually starts processing PATH Act returns as soon as they receive them. They just can't release the refund before mid-February due to the law. Your return is being worked on behind the scenes, they're just holding the actual refund deposit.
