PATH Act Hold and Code 570 on Transcript - What Does This Mean for My Refund?

I have checked my transcript and noticed a code 570 present. Is this something I should be concerned about? Also, I still have PATH Act hold showing. Would this not be resolved by now since we are in April? My timeline seems to be extending beyond what should be normal, no? I filed my taxes in February with Child Tax Credit and have been monitoring the transcript weekly since then.

Has anyone else had this code 570 recently? How long did it take to resolve? I'm concerned about what this means for my expected refund amount. The PATH Act was supposed to only delay until mid-February, wasn't it?

Thanks for explaining. Needed this info. Was worried about my refund.

According to IRS Publication 5027, the PATH Act specifically requires the IRS to hold refunds claiming EITC and ACTC until at least February 15th. I had the same 570 code last year, and it resolved itself within 21 days, but this was after the PATH Act hold lifted. The combination of both can be particularly concerning.

I appreciate this breakdown! It's like having a roadmap through a maze - much clearer now.

Have you received any notices in the mail from the IRS? The 570 code usually indicates a hold on your account, which could be for various reasons. Did you claim exactly $3,600 for the Child Tax Credit? Or was it another amount? Sometimes the IRS needs to verify certain information before releasing funds, especially with credits like the CTC.

Code 570 means there's an additional account action pending, which is holding your refund. The PATH Act is separate - it's just the mandatory hold for returns with certain credits, which should have lifted mid-February. Your 570 code is the current issue. If you want to resolve this quickly, I recommend calling the IRS directly. I've had success using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an agent without the usual hours of waiting. They can tell you exactly what's causing the 570 hold and what you need to do to resolve it.

Has anyone actually used this Claimyr thing? Seems too good to be true tbh. I've spent literal DAYS trying to reach the IRS over the years.

I believe the service works by continuously calling on your behalf and then connecting you when they get through, if I'm not mistaken. It seems to be legitimate based on what others have reported.

YES! It absolutely works! I was so frustrated trying to call about my amended return. Used Claimyr and got through in about 30 minutes instead of the 3+ hours I spent the day before getting nowhere!

How quickly can you typically get an answer once connected? I'm facing a deadline and need to know if this is worth trying immediately or if I should pursue other options first?

Based on my experience from last year, you might want to check if there's a 971 code that follows your 570. This often indicates a notice being sent. In my case, they just needed verification of my identity. I was able to resolve it by going to ID.me and completing the verification process. Many people see these codes clear up within 2-3 weeks without any action needed.

I had almost the exact same situation last filing season. My transcript showed 570 followed by 971 about a week later. Turned out they just needed to verify some information about my dependents. Got a letter, called in, verified everything, and my refund was released about 10 days after that. The anxiety waiting was worse than the actual issue!

I'm somewhat doubtful that this is just a normal PATH Act delay. It's April already, and those holds typically resolve by mid-February. The code 570 is probably something else entirely. Perhaps there's a discrepancy between what you calculated for your refund and what the IRS calculated? Or maybe there's an issue with the information you provided? It might be worth checking if you have any past tax issues that could be causing this hold.

Transaction Code 570 specifically indicates a credit balance freeze on your account. This is different from the PATH Act hold, which is a statutory delay for EITC/ACTC processing. Your 570 could be for identity verification, income verification, or a discrepancy review. Without a subsequent Transaction Code (like 571 for release or 420 for audit), it's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. The typical resolution timeframe is 21-45 days from the date listed with the 570 code on your transcript.

I just went through this last month! Here's what I learned: • Code 570 = temporary hold on your refund • PATH Act is separate from code 570 issues • Most 570 codes resolve within 21 days • If you see a 971 code after, expect a letter • Many times it resolves automatically without you doing anything Mine cleared after 18 days exactly, and I got my refund 5 days after that. The hold was because they were verifying my W-2 information.

The Transaction Code 570 (Additional Account Action Pending) and PATH Act hold are two separate issues. The PATH Act hold should have resolved after February 15th as mandated by the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015. Your 570 code is likely related to a verification process or discrepancy in your return. Check the date associated with the 570 code - this indicates when the hold was placed, not when it will be resolved.
