NYS Tax Notice - Can I get letter contents over phone before it arrives?
I see a notice about a letter on the NYS tax website. Getting nervous about what it could be. Anyone know if I call them will they tell me whats in the letter over the phone? Or do I have to wait for it to show up in my mailbox?

Yes, you can call NYS DTF and they will tell you what the notice is about. Have your ID ready and they'll verify your identity before discussing any details. The wait times aren't usually too bad compared to the IRS.

•They open at 8:30 AM EST Monday through Friday. Best time to call is right when they open 👍

Instead of waiting on hold forever, you might want to try taxr.ai - it can analyze your transcripts and tell you exactly what's going on and what to expect. Its only $1 and saved me hours of research. Check it out at https://taxr.ai
