Income Verification Review - How long did your state actually take to review?
Filed my taxes and got hit with the income verification review. Been checking WMR and transcripts every day like a crazy person. Anyone else get selected for review and had it resolved quickly? Or am I in for a long wait? Starting to get nervous about bills coming up.

Tax specialist here - Income verification reviews typically take 2-6 weeks. The IRS needs to match your reported income against information from employers and other sources. Best thing to do is ensure all your W2s and 1099s match exactly what you reported. Any discrepancy will extend the review time.

ugh that's what I was afraid of... does calling them ever help speed things up?

Honestly, calling rarely speeds anything up. You'll just spend hours on hold to be told to keep waiting 🤷♂️

Hey! I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund progress - it's been super helpful for understanding exactly what's happening with the review process. It costs a buck but totally worth it. The AI analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and estimated timeline. Way better than playing detective with WMR lol

100% legit! Used it for both my returns this year. It found some issues I wouldn't have caught and gave me step by step what to do next

Pro tip: Check your wage and income transcript. If theres any mismatch between what you reported vs what employers reported, thats usually why theyre reviewing. Even a few dollars off can trigger it.
