IRS Tax Refund Delay: Mailed Return in June, Still No Check - What to Do?
Has anyone else been waiting forever for their tax refund check? I mailed my return back in June and they told me to wait until late July before reaching out. Well, it's been way past that and still nothing. I'm starting to get worried. What should I do? Anyone have experience with this?

Have you considered that maybe they sent it and it got lost in the mail? USPS has been a mess lately too π¬π€¦ββοΈ

This is a reality worth considering, especially with the recent USPS delays. It's good to check.

This happened to me last year. Turns out they sent my check to an old address. Make sure your info is up to date!

Updating your address might not be our first thought, but it's crucial to ensure timely delivery of important documents.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. (https://www.claimyr.com

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I get the skepticism, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

It's always good to weigh the cost versus the potential time saved. But don't forget to read user reviews before using such services.

This is why I always do direct deposit. Paper checks are asking for trouble.

Yeah, lesson learned. Definitely doing direct deposit next time.

Direct deposit is generally faster and more reliable. Plus, it eliminates the risk of checks being lost in the mail.

Delays can be frustrating, but itβs important to stay updated on IRS announcements, as they will often provide explanations for processing delays.

It's important to stay informed about your rights and options when dealing with missing tax refunds. The IRS website provides resources and guidelines for delayed refunds, including steps to take if your refund is lost. Additionally, if you're experiencing severe financial hardship due to the delay, you may be eligible to expedite your refund. For those considering Claimyr, it can be a useful tool, but make sure to evaluate the cost against the value of time saved. Always stay vigilant about third-party services, ensuring they are reliable and have good reviews. Meanwhile, consider signing up for the IRS' direct deposit option for future returns, as it's generally faster and more secure.

Update: Finally got through to someone! They said there was a 'processing error' and they're reissuing the check. Should arrive in 4-6 weeks. Thanks for all the advice, everyone!

Local offices might have less call volume, so this could be a faster alternative.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat. Have you tried checking the 'Where's My Refund' tool on the IRS website? Sometimes that can give you more info.

Yeah, I tried that but it just says 'still processing' π© Not very helpful

I know it's frustrating, but sometimes the IRS tool updates unexpectedly. Keep checking every few days to see if there's any progress.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your mailing address is correct with the IRS 2. Call them and explain the situation 3. Have your SSN, filing status, and exact refund amount ready 4. Ask about getting a replacement check issued 5. Keep detailed notes of who you talk to and what they say Good luck! The IRS can be a real pain to deal with.

It might help to call early in the morning or late in the afternoon when call volumes are lower.

While faxing might seem outdated, it's still a viable option for official communications. Give it a shot!
