IRS Reps Giving Conflicting Info - Errors Dept vs. Still Processing?

So Monday I called the IRS n was told I was sent to errors department but today I talk to 2 other reps and was told nothing is wrong with my return it's still just still processing has anyone had this problem 🤷🏿‍♀️ I filed back in January and my transcript still hasn't updated. Getting real tired of these different answers every time I call.

This happens more often than you'd think. The IRS has different departments and sometimes the information doesn't sync properly between them. The "errors department" doesn't necessarily mean there's an actual error - it could be a verification hold or just routine review. When did you file exactly? And did you claim any credits like EIC or Child Tax Credit?

Filed January 28th. Claimed EIC and my son as a dependent. My transcript still says N/A for 2024 return. This waiting game is killing me fr

Same thing happened to me! First rep said errors, second said just processing. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was happening. I ended up using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript once it finally updated. It explained exactly what was happening with my return and what all those weird codes meant. Helped me understand I was just caught in the PATH Act verification for my EIC claim, not actually in errors.

Does that taxr thing actually work? I've been trying to make sense of my transcript for weeks and I'm completely lost with all those codes.

It really helped me understand what was going on. The IRS transcript looks like hieroglyphics but taxr.ai translated everything into plain English. Showed me exactly where my return was in the process and when I could expect my refund. Way better than getting different answers from every IRS agent.

The PATH Act holds returns with EIC until at least February 15th for verification, and this year they're super backed up. My return was in limbo for 8 weeks before it finally processed. The "errors department" often just means manual review, not that you did anything wrong.

When the IRS reps give conflicting info, it usually means your return is in a transitional state or they're looking at different screens. I'd trust the most recent info since systems update daily.

I had this EXACT situation last month. Got tired of the runaround and used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to a senior IRS agent. Waited on hold for years before discovering this service. Got connected in like 20 minutes and the agent was able to see my full file history and confirm I wasn't actually in errors - just needed verification. Got my refund a week later. Worth every penny not to waste hours on hold just to get wrong info.

For real? Might have to try this. I've wasted so many hours on hold just to get different answers every time 😩

100%. The regular IRS line is impossible this time of year. With Claimyr you get to an actual agent who can see your whole file, not just basic status info. Saved me days of stress.

Pro tip: Ask specifically for a "research agent" next time you call. They have access to more detailed information about your return status than the first-level reps. Also request they check internal notes on your account - sometimes there's info there that explains the discrepancy.
