IRS Identity Verification nightmare from 2024 - Will 2025 be better?
Is anyone else traumatized from last years ID verify mess? I spent 6 months trying to verify my identity with the IRS. The website kept crashing, phone lines were always busy, and when I finally got through they said I had to mail in documents. Never doing that again.

Tax pro here - the ID verify system should be much better this year. They've upgraded their servers and added more verification options. Most people can now verify through ID.me or their state ID system. The wait times are down to about 5-10 minutes online.
