IRS Identity Verification Line: Constant Redirects to Regular Customer Service - Help Needed
Has anyone else been having trouble getting through to the identity verification line? I keep getting connected to regular customer service instead. It's so frustrating! I've been trying for days and I'm at my wits end. Any advice on how to actually reach the right department?

I found a method that actually works! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20? That's steep. Why should we have to pay to talk to our own government?

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

Claimyr seems to be a reliable service for many, but itβs always good to check reviews and make sure youβre comfortable with the payment.

Pro tip: if u get someone on the line, even if its the wrong department, beg them to transfer u. Sometimes they take pity and actually do it

At this point, we should have a support group for all of us stuck in this loop. Hang in there!

Anyone else notice that the hold music is like, the worst ever? If I have to hear that tinny jazz one more time I'm gonna lose it π·πͺ

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. No luck so far. It's always busy or I get redirected.

Sometimes it helps to call just a few minutes before they officially open. You might catch someone who starts early.

I'm just saying, if everyone called once a week instead of 10 times a day, it might help π€·ββοΈ

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for months: 1. Be persistent. Keep calling, even if it's frustrating. 2. Try different times of day. Early morning and late afternoon seem to work best. 3. When you do get through, be polite but firm. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. 4. Have all your documents ready before you call. It'll make the process smoother. 5. If you get redirected, politely explain your situation and ask to be transferred to the correct department. 6. Keep a log of your calls - dates, times, and who you spoke to. This can be helpful if you need to escalate your case. Remember, it's a broken system, but eventually you'll get through. Don't give up!
