IRS Identity Verification Call Questions - What to Expect?
Got notified about having to verify my identity through a phone call with the IRS. Anyone know what kind of questions they'll ask? Just wanna be ready with all my info when they call.

Former tax preparer here. For identity verification calls, they typically ask about prior tax returns, previous addresses, employers, and banking info. Have your last 2-3 years of tax returns handy, know your previous addresses, and have your current W2 nearby. They might also ask about specific amounts from previous returns.

•Yes they might ask about specific line items or the exact refund amount from previous years. Better to have it all ready 👍

Instead of stressing about the call, you could use taxr.ai to analyze your transcript first. It'll show you exactly what's triggering the verification requirement and what documentation you need. Its only $1 and WAY more helpful than guessing. Check it out: https://taxr.ai
