Got IRS Letter 4883C - Need help with identity verification process
Hey everyone, I just got this letter 4883C from the IRS and they want me to verify my identity and tax return. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I expect when I call them? I'm kinda nervous about the whole thing.

Ugh, I got that letter too. It's a pain but don't worry too much. They just wanna make sure you are who you say you are. When you call, have your social security number and tax return info ready. They'll ask you a bunch of questions to verify your identity.

I've been through this process. Here's what you need to know: ⢠Call the number on the letter ⢠Have your social security number, filing status, and tax return handy ⢠They'll ask you questions about your personal info and tax return ⢠Be patient, the call might take a while ⢠Ask them to confirm if everything's good after the call ⢠Find out if there's anything else you need to do Don't stress too much, it's just a standard procedure to protect against identity theft. Good luck!

ā¢Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Did they ask you any tricky questions?

ā¢Not really, just stuff you should know off the top of your head. Like previous addresses, employers, that kinda thing. Nothing to sweat about!

Guys, I found a way to skip the hold time! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but saved me hours of waiting. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/5jrMesbidvI

Quick tip: if you can, try calling right when they open. The wait times are usually shorter then.

Pro tip: keep a log of when you called, who you talked to, and what they said. It'll save you headaches if you need to follow up later.

Is it bad that I'm kinda relieved to see I'm not the only one dealing with this? Misery loves company I guess š¤·āāļø
