Got IRS Letter 4883C - Need help verifying identity
Hey everyone, I just got this letter 4883C from the IRS and I need to verify it. Has anyone gone through this process before? What should I expect when I call them? I'm a bit nervous about dealing with the IRS directly.

Ugh, I got one of those letters too. It's a pain in the butt to deal with. Basically, they want you to prove your identity before they process your return. Be prepared to wait on hold FOREVER when you call.

ā¢For real tho, I was on hold for like 3 hours last time I had to call the IRS. It's ridiculous š

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might get through faster.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting forever. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/5jrMesbidvI

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

ā¢Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of waiting on hold. Worth every penny imo.

ā¢How does it actually work? Do you have to give them your phone number?

ā¢You just enter your phone number on their website, and they call you when they get an agent. It's pretty simple.

Here's what you need to know about the 4883C letter: ⢠It's sent when the IRS suspects potential identity theft ⢠You'll need to verify your identity before they process your return ⢠Have your previous year's tax return handy when you call ⢠They might ask for other documents like W-2s or 1099s ⢠Be patient, the process can take a while ⢠Make sure you're calling the number listed on the letter Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

ā¢Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! It's really helpful. Do you know how long the whole process usually takes?

ā¢It can vary, but typically it takes about 6-9 weeks after you verify your identity for them to process your return. Sometimes longer if they need additional info.

I went through this last year. It's not as scary as it seems. Just be honest and have all your docs ready. You got this! šŖ

Anyone else think its weird that the IRS makes it so hard to give them our money? Like, shouldn't they WANT us to pay taxes? š¤
