How long for IRS to approve return after they received it? Anyone have recent experience?
I filed my taxes electronically last week and got confirmation that the IRS received it. The Where's My Refund tool just shows received. Anyone know how long it typically takes to get approved and get my refund? Really need this money soon.

Tax professional here. The standard processing time is 21 days for e-filed returns, but due to current backlog and staffing issues, many returns are taking 30-45 days. If you claimed EITC or CTC, it could take longer. Check your transcript for more accurate updates than WMR.
