Has anyone received their paper tax refund check mailed April 14th?

Paper checks can take up to 4 weeks to arrive after the mail date, sometimes longer depending on your location and USPS delivery in your area. The IRS doesn't consider a check "lost" until 4-6 weeks after the mail date. If you don't receive it by May 15th (that's about 4 weeks from your mail date), you should call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to initiate a payment trace. They'll then determine if the check was cashed or not. If not cashed, they can stop payment and reissue. If someone else cashed it, they'll investigate further. Make sure you've checked that your address is correct on your tax return - this is the most common reason people don't receive their checks. Also check with anyone else in your household who might have received the mail. IRS delivery timeframes can be frustrating but hang in there - most checks do arrive eventually.

Mine took 22 days to arrive after the mail date shown on my transcript. USPS is a mess right now. I wouldn't worry too much yet.

Be careful OP. Somone else might have stolen it from your mailbox and cashed it. I'd recommend checking your informed delivery from USPS if you have that set up. You can see if it was actually delivered.

My check was sent March 21st and took about 18 days to arrive. The WMR tool was useless the whole time just saying "your refund has been mailed". I was checking my mailbox like a crazy person every day lol. I'd give it at least another week before panicking.

The IRS is such a joke. Why the hell do they even still mail paper checks in 2025?! They have my direct deposit info from previous years. So inefficient

You can usually see if a refund check was cashed by looking at your account transcript (different from your return transcript). Look for TC 841 which shows the check was cashed. If you dont see that code, it likely hasnt been cashed yet.

Pro tip: Call your local post office directly and ask if they can check if there's a check from Treasury sitting there. I did this last yr when my refund was late and turns out it was sitting at the post office with a scanning error. They found it right away when I called.

Had mine sent out Febuary 12 and it took till March 3 to get to me. About 19 days. The IRS is SLOW with everything, but the Post Office makes it even slower. 13 days is nothing yet.

USPS is absolutely terrible right now, my wife and I both got our refund checks MONTHS apart despite filing jointly. Makes no sense. Our checks were sent the same day according to the IRS but arrived 7 weeks apart. The system is completely broken.

If you wanna get a real IRS person to check on your refund status, try claimyr.com - it got me through to an agent in about an hour when I was waiting on my refund. Anybody else worried about all these tax refund checks being stolen from mailboxes? I've read stories about organized groups targeting neighborhoods when refunds are going out. Just saying maybe check in with your neighbors to see if they've had any mail theft issues.

Hate to break it to you but I'm still waiting for a check that was supposedly mailed March 29th... almost 5 weeks ago. IRS is a joke. Called them and they just said "wait longer" 🤡

Could also be delayed if you moved recently or if your address format on your tax return didn't exactly match what USPS has in their system. Even small differences can cause forwarding issues.

So i had the EXACT same issue last month. Paper check that never showed up. I couldn't get through to anyone at the IRS for weeks. Finally used claimyr.com to get through to an agent who told me my check had been returned to them because of a partial address issue. They fixed it and resent it. The second check arrived in 8 days. If I hadn't gotten through to them I would still be waiting. Sometimes you need to talk to an actual person to fix these things.
