How long does IRS tax return verification call usually take? (PST timezone)

Hey everyone, I need to verify my tax return and I'm wondering how long the call with the IRS might take. Anyone have experience with this? I'm in PST time zone if that matters.

I found a way to solve IRS tax return verification call, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnmJUjrXgLw

Ugh, good luck with that. I tried calling the IRS last week and was on hold for over 3 hours before I gave up. It's a total nightmare 😫

3 hours? You got off easy! I've heard of people waiting 5+ hours and still not getting through. The IRS phone system is a joke 🤡

Same boat here. Tried calling multiple times and always got the "due to high call volume" message. Feels like they don't even want us to reach them 🙄

Wow, that sounds awful. I really hope it doesn't take that long for me. Maybe I'll try calling first thing in the morning?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to the IRS? That's ridiculous. The government should make it easier to contact them without having to pay extra 😤

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

I'm intrigued. How exactly does this work? Do they just keep redialing until they get through?

From what I understand, they use some kind of automated system to navigate the phone menus and stay on hold. When a real person picks up, it forwards the call to you. Pretty clever tbh

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open. I got through in about 30 minutes last time I did that. Also, have all your docs ready before you call so you don't waste time once you get someone.

Thanks for the advice! What time do they open in PST?

I believe it's 7am PST, but double-check on the IRS website to be sure. Good luck!

I've had to verify my tax return before. The call itself only took about 15-20 minutes once I got through to someone. The hold time is the real killer tho 💀

Has anyone tried using the IRS website for this? I know they have some online tools, but idk if they cover tax return verification.

I looked into it, but for some issues, they still require you to call. It's so frustrating that they haven't fully modernized their systems yet 🙄

Here's a detailed breakdown of what to expect when verifying your tax return with the IRS: • Prepare all necessary documents beforehand (W-2s, 1099s, etc.) • Call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 • Navigate through the automated system (it's a pain, but stay patient) • Average hold times can range from 30 minutes to several hours • Once you reach an agent, the actual verification process usually takes 15-30 minutes • They'll ask you questions to confirm your identity and details from your tax return • Be polite but firm if you disagree with anything they say • Take notes during the call for future reference Remember, persistence is key. If you can't get through, try calling at different times of the day. Early morning or just before closing time can sometimes have shorter wait times. Good luck!

Great advice! I'd add: if you get disconnected, don't give up. It happens sometimes and it's not your fault. Just redial and try again.
