How long after identity verification until refund is issued?
Do you all know..How long does it typically take for you to receive your refund after you have done the verification of your identity? I had to verify through ID.me last week and I'm getting anxious about when my refund might come through. Has anyone gone through this recently? What was your timeline like?

After identity verification, the IRS typically takes 9-21 days to process your return and issue a refund, assuming there are no other issues with your tax return. However, during peak filing season (which we're in right now), this can sometimes extend to 4-6 weeks. The verification process itself is just one step - once verified, your return still needs to go through normal processing channels.

I verified my identity on February 12th and got my refund exactly 16 days later. But my sister had to verify hers around the same time and she's still waiting (going on 5 weeks now). I think it really depends on your specific tax situation and whether there are any other review flags on your return.

Did either of you check your transcripts during the waiting period? Did they update before the refund came or did it just show up?

I checked my transcripts obsessively! They updated about 5 days after verification showing codes 570 and 971, which initially freaked me out. Then about a week later, I got code 846 with my deposit date. I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript because all the codes were confusing. It explained exactly what was happening and predicted my refund date correctly. Saved me a lot of anxiety!

I verified my identity last year and it took exactly 28 days to get my refund. The most frustrating part was that the WMR tool didn't update at all during that time - it just stayed on "still processing" until suddenly one day it showed approved. Then the money was in my account 2 days later.

The timeline varies significantly based on several factors: 1. Whether you claimed refundable credits (EITC, CTC) 2. If there are any other verification issues besides identity 3. Current IRS backlog status 4. Whether your return was selected for additional review If it's been more than 21 days since verification and WMR doesn't show progress, you should consider calling the IRS directly.

When I had to verify my identity this tax season, I waited 3 weeks and saw no updates. I tried calling the IRS regular number but couldn't get through after hours of trying. I finally used Claimyr.com (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent told me my return was just sitting in a queue waiting for someone to manually review the verification, and they were able to expedite it. Got my refund about 5 days later. Definitely worth it instead of waiting indefinitely.

Was the Claimyr service expensive? I'm on day 14 after verification and getting antsy about my refund.

It was around $20 which I thought was totally worth it considering I was getting a decent sized refund and needed the money for some bills. Plus I had already wasted hours trying to call myself. The peace of mind from actually talking to someone who could see my file was worth every penny.

I'm still waiting after verifying my identity 6 weeks ago. Called twice and both times was told "just keep waiting." This system is completely broken. 🙄

If you've been waiting 6+ weeks since verification, you should specifically ask if there are any other issues with your return. Sometimes identity verification reveals other discrepancies that need addressing, but agents won't always volunteer this information unless directly asked.
