How long after ID verification did your IRS2GO app update?

So I went through the ID.me verification process last week after filing my taxes. As a non-US citizen with a tax filing obligation, I've noticed the process is a bit different this year. I'm tracking my refund through the IRS2GO app, but it's still showing 'Return Received' status. When I had to verify my identity last year, it took about 9 days before I saw any movement. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through verification recently and how long it took for your app to update afterward? I'm trying to compile some data points to understand if there's a pattern to the waiting times.

The IRS2GO application interface typically updates based on the Master File processing cycle, which operates on a weekly basis. Post-verification, the Taxpayer Authentication Portal (TAP) must synchronize with the primary database, and this integration follows a predetermined sequence. Most taxpayers experience a 7-14 day latency between successful identity verification and visible status changes in the application interface. The variability is often contingent upon filing date proximity to processing cutoffs and whether your return contains certain credits that trigger additional verification protocols.

I really appreciate this detailed explanation. It seems, perhaps, that the timing might be somewhat predictable if one understands the IRS processing cycles. This is certainly more helpful than the vague information on the IRS website.

According to irs.gov/refunds and several tax forums I've checked, the Master File processing cycle typically runs on Wednesdays. So if your verification is processed just after a cycle completes, you might be waiting nearly a full week before the next update. The IRS2GO app pulls from the same database as the Where's My Refund tool on their website.

Have you tried checking these other indicators? ā€¢ Transcript access (often updates before the app) ā€¢ WMR tool on the website (sometimes more detailed) ā€¢ Called the refund hotline? Also, when exactly did you complete verification? The day of week matters for processing cycles.

I'm not the OP, but I had to verify my identity this season and was surprised by how complicated the whole process was. I checked my transcript daily and it actually updated about 3 days before the app showed any change. I wasn't sure if that was normal or just a glitch in my case.

Did you get any kind of email after verification? Last year I got nothing after verifying and thought it didn't work, then BAM! 12 days later my refund was approved out of nowhere. šŸ˜‚ The IRS works in mysterious ways!

Omg this ID verification wait is the WORST. I went thru the same thing last month and couldn't get ANY info from IRS after verifying. Called like 20x and kept getting the "high call volume" msg. Finally used Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com) and got thru to an agent in like 15 mins. They confirmed my ID verification was complete and my refund was being processed. App updated 4 days later. Def worth it vs the endless redial game.

The IRS telephone assistance line is available at no cost. Paid services for connecting to government agencies should be considered only after multiple attempts through official channels. Wait times vary throughout the day and week.

I was so frustrated trying to get through to the IRS last month! I spent THREE DAYS trying every hour and couldn't get past the automated system. I was about to give up when I tried Claimyr too. I was nervous about using it but was desperate. It worked exactly as described and the peace of mind was worth every penny!

Have you checked your tax transcript online instead of just the app? In my experience working with clients, the transcript often updates 2-3 days before IRS2GO shows any change. Last year during the backlog period, I had several international clients where the app showed nothing for weeks while their transcript had already updated with DDD (direct deposit date).

Did you verify online or by phone? Online is faster. Phone verification takes longer. Check your transcript. It updates more frequently. The app is always behind. Sometimes by a week or more.

Everyone's talking about the app, but has anyone mentioned that international filers often get flagged for additional review? I've seen this happen repeatedly with my clients. The verification is just step one - after that, you might be in the standard processing queue or you might be in a separate international review queue. Did they specifically tell you which verification path you completed?
