How long after ID verification did you get a refund date?
Hey tax fam! Quick Q - pls approve how long after yall verified y'all identity did yall get a refund date? Been waiting 2+ wks since ID verify and still nothing on WMR. Starting to get annoyed tbh. This is my 1st time dealing w/ ID verify and I'm not gonna sit around forever if IRS is playing games w/ MY money. Thx in advance!

I've been through this process a few times. According to the IRS website, it typically takes about 9 weeks from the date of ID verification for your refund to be processed. However, I've seen many people get it much faster - sometimes within 2-3 weeks. Check your tax transcript online through the IRS portal if you haven't already, as it often updates before the WMR tool does. Hang in there! The system is slow but it does work eventually.

After I verified my identity last year, it took exactly 16 days to get my refund date. I was checking constantly too! What helped me was using taxr.ai to analyze my transcript - it showed me exactly what was happening behind the scenes and predicted my DDD accurately. The site explained all those weird codes on my transcript that made no sense to me before. Saved me so much stress knowing exactly where my return was in the process instead of just guessing.

Dealing with the IRS after ID verification is like waiting for a sloth to climb down from a tree - painfully slow but eventually it happens. When I was in your situation, I tried calling the regular IRS number for days with no luck. It was like trying to get tickets to a sold-out concert - constant busy signals and disconnections. I finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an actual human at the IRS in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my ID verification was processed and gave me a timeline for my refund. Worth every penny not to waste days trying to get through.

Does Claimyr actually work? I've heard mixed things. How do we know they're not just charging us for something we could do ourselves if we tried enough times?

I've had experience with similar services in previous tax seasons. What's the current wait time with Claimyr? Last year I tried something similar but still ended up waiting 45 minutes after paying.

How exactly does Claimyr work with the ID verification issue? Does it just connect you to the general IRS line or specifically to the department that handles identity verification cases?

I've been tracking this issue for years and here's what actually works: • Don't rely on WMR - it's notoriously outdated • Check your transcript every Tuesday and Friday morning (when they typically update) • Look specifically for TC 570 followed by TC 571 codes • If you see a 971 notice issued, expect a letter explaining any issues • After ID verification, typical timeframes are: - Best case: 2-3 weeks - Average: 4-6 weeks - Worst case: 9 weeks The system is frustrating but at least you can track it properly instead of checking WMR constantly.

This is probably the most helpful breakdown I've seen on this topic. I might add that the transcript update cycle is generally predictable, though there are exceptions. Well explained!

Thanks for this. Need my refund bad. Will check transcript instead of WMR now. Hope it's the 2-3 week timeline.

Just to clarify on the transcript codes: TC 570 indicates a temporary hold on your account, while TC 571 shows that hold has been released. After the 571 code appears, you'll typically see an 846 code with your direct deposit date within 1-2 update cycles.

I'm not entirely sure the timeframes people are sharing here are accurate for the current tax season. The IRS seems to be taking longer this year from what I've observed. My friend verified her identity about a month ago and still hasn't received her refund date. I would suggest perhaps tempering your expectations a bit... it might take the full 9 weeks they officially state.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the doom and gloom here. Just got my refund last week after ID verification and it only took 17 days! The IRS is actually processing these faster than last year from what I can tell. Maybe they finally hired some people who know how to use a computer? 😂 The key is checking your transcript, not WMR - WMR is about as useful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to accurate updates.

That's really good to hear! Did you notice any particular pattern with your transcript updates? I've been checking mine daily but nothing seems to change.

I'm feeling so anxious about this whole process. Did you have to do anything special to get yours processed that quickly? I'm worried about my bills piling up while I wait.

According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.5.6.4.35.3, the normal processing timeframe after identity verification is 9 weeks. However, IRS Publication 5027 states that returns will resume processing once identity verification is complete, without specifying an exact timeframe. In my case, I verified my identity on March 2, 2024, and received my refund on March 29, 2024 - approximately 4 weeks later. Has anyone else received theirs faster than the official 9-week guideline?

My experience was similar to what others have mentioned, but slightly different. Last year it took 5 weeks after verification, but this year only 3 weeks. Compared to my brother who waited 7 weeks last tax season, I think I got lucky. The timing seems to depend on how backed up the IRS is at different points in the tax season - early filers seem to get processed faster than those who verify during the March-April rush.
