Has Anyone Filed with TaxAct This Season? Experiences?

I filed through TaxAct on March 15th and I'm wondering about other people's experiences this year. My status has been stuck on "Return Received" since March 17th with no updates. I'm a grad student and really counting on this refund for summer tuition payment due April 30th. Anyone else use TaxAct for 2023 taxes? How long did processing take for you? Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences!

I've been using TaxAct for probably the last 3-4 years, and I've noticed that sometimes there might be slight delays compared to other services. It's possible that your return is just working its way through the normal IRS processing queue, which could take anywhere from 21-45 days, especially if you claimed certain credits. Have you checked the official "Where's My Refund" tool on the IRS website rather than just the TaxAct status tracker?

I filed with TaxAct on February 2nd this year and got my federal refund on February 17th. Last year was a completely different story though - filed on February 8th and didn't get my refund until late March! Same software, same basic tax situation. I think it has more to do with IRS processing than the actual software you use to file.

I used TaxAct and immediately regretted it. The IRS2Go app and WMR tool on irs.gov showed different statuses than what TaxAct was telling me. According to the TaxAct tracker my return was "accepted" but the IRS tools showed it was still being processed for 6 weeks. If you check the TaxAct forums there are dozens of people reporting the same issue this year. Their tracking system seems completely unreliable.

I've used different tax services in previous years and always had refund delays. This time I tried using https://taxr.ai after filing through TaxAct because I needed my refund for a deadline payment. It analyzed my transcript and showed exactly where my return was in processing and predicted my refund date within 2 days of when I actually got it. Way more helpful than the vague "still processing" message from WMR or TaxAct's tracker.

Is that service actually accessing your IRS transcript data? I'm concerned about security with third-party tools. Does it require you to provide login credentials for the IRS website or personal identifiers like SSN?

Have you checked if there are any specific codes on your tax transcript? Sometimes TaxAct users report their returns get flagged for additional verification even when there aren't any obvious issues. Have you created an account on the IRS website to check your transcript directly? That might give you more insight than the TaxAct status page.

Ever tried calling the IRS directly about your return status? I was in the same boat with TaxAct last month, and after getting frustrated with the lack of updates, I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an actual IRS agent. Why wait for weeks in uncertainty when you can talk to someone who can see exactly what's happening with your return? I was connected within 25 minutes instead of spending hours on hold or getting disconnected.

I've used TaxAct for exactly 7 tax seasons now. This year I filed on January 31st, 2024 and received my refund on February 21st, so it took 21 days precisely. Last year it took 18 days, and the year before that it was 24 days. From my experience, TaxAct itself doesn't affect processing time - it's more about when you file, what credits you claim, and whether your return gets selected for additional review. The software is just the messenger.

I'm sticking with TaxAct because it saves me $40 compared to TurboTax! So happy I found it three years ago. My refund came through in just 14 days this year - fastest ever! šŸ™Œ But I did notice that my state return took FOREVER - almost 5 weeks! The federal was quick though.
