Filed 2/15 and Still No DDD - Anyone Else Waiting?
Anyone file 2/15 that still hasn't gotten a DDD? I'm going on 9 weeks now and WMR still says "processing" with no bars. Transcripts just show N/A for 2024. No letters, no notices, nada. I double-checked everything b4 filing and claimed standard deductions + mortgage interest (first year homeowner). Starting to get annoyed tbh but trying not to stress. Thx for any insights!

There are actually quite a few people in your situation right now. The IRS has been experiencing some processing delays this year, particularly for returns filed in mid-February. While their official processing time is 21 days, we're seeing many returns taking 45-60 days, especially if there are any verification checks happening behind the scenes. I would suggest checking your transcripts weekly rather than daily, as this might reduce some stress while still keeping you informed of any changes.

I'm in the same boat! Filed 2/16 and still nothing. Did you claim any credits like the CTC or EITC? Last year I had a similar delay and it turned out they were just verifying my income. Have you tried calling the IRS to see if there's any specific hold on your return?

It seems like you might be caught in what's sometimes called the "silent audit" phase, where they're reviewing but not communicating. If you're really concerned, you might want to try reaching the IRS directly. I had a similar issue last month and spent days trying to get through their phone system. I eventually used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) which got me connected to an agent in about 30 minutes. They were able to confirm that my return was just in extended processing and nothing was wrong. It might be worth the peace of mind to know for sure what's happening with yours.

Is this service really worth it though? I'm hesitant to pay for something when the IRS service is technically free. ā¢ How much does it cost? ā¢ Do they actually guarantee you'll talk to someone? ā¢ Couldn't I just keep calling myself?

I used it. Worked for me. Saved hours of redial attempts. Worth every penny. Got my questions answered fast. IRS agent confirmed my return was fine.

I was skeptical at first too, but after trying for 3 days to reach someone at the IRS, I gave Claimyr a shot. Did it actually connect you directly to an IRS agent? Did you have to provide any personal information to the service itself?

Be careful about getting too anxious and taking unnecessary actions. Last year, my cousin was in a similar situation - waiting for weeks with no DDD. It was like watching water boil - the more he checked, the longer it seemed to take. He ended up filing an amended return thinking something was wrong, which actually DOUBLED his wait time. The original return processed a week after he filed the amendment, creating a huge headache that took months to resolve.

I'm not sure all these "solutions" are actually helpful. According to the IRS website, processing times can vary significantly based on how you filed, what you claimed, and current backlog. I've been checking the official IRS operations page (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations) and they're not reporting any unusual delays for e-filed returns, so I'm skeptical about claims of widespread February filing issues.

The official processing time estimates don't always reflect reality. I filed on February 14th, 2024 and just got my DDD yesterday (April 17th). The IRS representative I spoke with on April 10th confirmed they're working through a backlog of returns from mid-February that got flagged for additional review - not because of errors but due to random selection and verification processes.

Just wanted to share my experience - I was in exactly your situation last month! Filed on 2/13, no updates for 8 weeks, WMR stuck on processing, and N/A transcripts. I was starting to think my return was lost in the void. Then suddenly last Thursday my transcript updated and I had a DDD for the following Wednesday. Money hit my account exactly on that date. Sometimes the system just takes forever with no explanation, but it does come through eventually. Hang in there!

Have you tried checking your Account Transcript rather than just the Return Transcript? Sometimes the Account Transcript will show pending actions or TC 570/971 codes that indicate what's happening with your return even when the Return Transcript shows N/A. You can access it through the IRS website under the 'Get Transcript' option.

Has anyone who filed around 2/15 with mortgage interest deductions (like OP) received their refund yet? I'm wondering if there's a specific delay related to Schedule A deductions this year. My return included exactly $12,463 in mortgage interest and I'm still waiting after 58 days.

I think it might be related to first-time homeowner status rather than the Schedule A itself. My situation was similar to yours but this is my 3rd year claiming mortgage interest. Last year my return took 21 days, this year it's been 49 days and counting. When I compare our situations to others on this forum, it seems like new homeowners are facing longer reviews.

Thanks for bringing this up! I've been tracking patterns in the tax subreddits and noticed the same thing. First-time Schedule A filers seem to be getting extra scrutiny this year. Almost like the IRS has some kind of new verification system in place. š My neighbor and I filed the same week - I've had a mortgage for years (processed in 3 weeks), she's a new homeowner (still waiting after 7 weeks).
