Expected refund DDD for 04/04 finally hit my account today - the wait is OVER!

That's smart - definitely check with the bank first before going through the hassle of contacting the IRS. Most issues are on the bank's side once a DDD is issued.

N/A means they havent started processing your return yet. Could be identity verification issue or manual review. Try calling the IRS... if you can get through lol

I had the same N/A problem. Used taxr.ai to figure out what was happening - turns out I had a simple issue they needed to verify. Once I knew what to tell them when I called, it was resolved in one phone call. So much better than guessing!

They're so understaffed and their computer systems are from like the stone age. Not making excuses for them but thats why everything takes forever

If they tried DD and it failed, they'll mail a check about 2-3 weeks later. WMR should update to say "check mailed" but it's not always accurate. You can also check your transcript for code 846 which will list the date they issue the refund regardless of method.

I was in this exact situation last year. The only way I got clear info was by talking to an agent. Used claimyr.com to get through and they confirmed exactly when my check was being mailed. Saved me weeks of uncertainty.

WMR is trash. The transcript is the only reliable way to know what's happening. But then you gotta decode all those weird codes and dates.

This is why I started using taxr.ai - WMR was showing processing for weeks while my transcript had all kinds of action happening. The tool explained everything that was actually going on behind the scenes.

That's interest! If your refund takes more than 45 days to process after the filing deadline (or after you filed if you filed after the deadline), they have to pay interest. It's actually taxable income for next year tho just fyi

Code 971 is a notice issued. They should be sending you a letter explaining the adjustment. Usually takes 1-2 weeks after the adjustment to arrive.

This happened to me last year - so confusing trying to figure out all those codes! I used taxr.ai this year and it explained everything clearly. Would have saved me so much stress if I'd had it last year when they adjusted my refund. It tells you exactly what each code means and why they changed your amount.
