ERC Application Status Check: Submitted in September, No Updates Since April IRS Call - How to Interpret IRS Tax Transcript?
Hey everyone, I submitted my ERC application back in September and haven't heard anything since. I called the IRS in April and they confirmed they have my application in the queue, but I'm still waiting. Has anyone had any luck getting updates on their ERC application? I'm thinking about checking my IRS tax transcript for any updates, but I'm not sure how to interpret it. Any advice?

Ugh, I feel ya. I've been waiting since last July for my ERC application to process. It's like they threw it into a black hole or something. 🕳️

Checking your IRS tax transcript is a good idea. Here's how to do it: 1. Go to the IRS website and log into your account 2. Look for the 'Get Transcript' option 3. Choose the tax year you're interested in 4. Look for any transaction codes related to your ERC application Common codes to look for: - 290: Indicates additional tax assessed - 291: Abatement of previously assessed tax - 570: Additional account action pending - 571: Resolved additional account action Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more info.

Wow, thanks for the detailed breakdown! I'll definitely give this a try. Any idea how long it usually takes for these codes to show up after submitting an application?

It varies, but in my experience, it can take anywhere from 2-6 months for codes to start appearing. Keep checking every couple of weeks!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 to skip the hold time? Sign me up! How long did you have to wait after they connected you?

@profile 7 I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. @profile 8 It took about 2 hours for them to get an agent, but I didn't have to be on the phone that whole time. They called me when an agent was ready.

Has anyone tried contacting their local congressman's office? I've heard they can sometimes help speed up the process.

Pro tip: Keep detailed records of all your communications with the IRS. Dates, times, agent names if possible. It might come in handy if you need to escalate your case later.

This! 💯 I learned this the hard way. Now I have a spreadsheet with all my IRS interactions.

Anyone else worried about the recent news of increased audits for ERC claims? Makes me nervous about my application...

I saw that too! But I think as long as we filed everything correctly and have proper documentation, we should be fine. Right? 😅
