Direct Deposit Date 2/25 with Chime - Anyone Received Their Refund Yet?

According to the WMR tool and my transcript (checked on irs.gov/transcripts), my direct deposit date is set for 2/25 and I use Chime banking. I've been checking the IRS2Go app every few hours but still nothing in my account. Has anyone else with the same DDD received their refund yet? First time filing jointly with my spouse and I'm wondering if that's causing delays? TurboTax says it could come 1-5 days early with Chime but nothing so far.

Chime deposits are currently experiencing delays across multiple banks: • DDD of 2/25 typically means funds release between 2/25-2/27 • Many online banks (including Chime) are showing 24-48 hour processing delays • IRS batch processing happens overnight, so many deposits won't show until tomorrow • If you don't see it by 2/28, THEN you should start investigating Time is critical here - don't panic yet, but mark your calendar for follow-up if needed!

Exactly what I needed to hear. Isn't it interesting how the IRS gives specific dates but banks treat them more like suggestions? Thanks for breaking it down so clearly.

This is way more complicated than my state refund was. That one hit my account exactly on the date they specified. The federal system seems to have so many more variables compared to my state's streamlined process.

Last year I experienced the same thing with my Chime account. DDD was February 22nd but didn't actually hit until the 24th. The IRS releases the funds on their end but then it's up to the banking system to process, which isn't instantaneous like many assume.

Are you checking your Transcript Cycle Code? If you have an 05 cycle code, your WMR won't update until Saturday morning regardless of your DDD. The Banking ACH transfer protocol also impacts when funds actually appear in your account versus when the IRS initiates the transfer.

Dealt with this last yr. My cycle code was 20230805 (an 05 code) and even tho my DDD was on a Monday, nothing showed in WMR until Sat morning. But $ actually hit my Chime acct Sunday night! The whole system is weird af tbh.

Has anyone tried calling the IRS to confirm the deposit was actually sent? I've been waiting for my deposit too, and I've been wondering if there's a way to verify it's actually been processed. I tried calling the regular IRS number but gave up after being on hold for 2 hours. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 20 minutes who confirmed my deposit was initiated yesterday and should hit my account by tomorrow. Has anyone else had success getting actual confirmation?

I'm not sure about using third-party services to contact the IRS. Did they need any of your personal information to connect you? I've been hesitant to try these kinds of services.

How much did that cost? Might be worth it if I don't see anything by Friday. Two hours on hold is basically my personal version of hell lol.

I'm with Chime too. My DDD was 2/25 and it hit my account at 3:42pm today. I've noticed Chime deposits usually come through mid-afternoon rather than morning. Keep checking - you'll probably see it today or tomorrow. I know the feeling of watching your account like a hawk when you're counting on that money.

This matches what I've observed as well. Chime processes deposits in batches throughout the day. Morning, afternoon, and evening batches seem to be the pattern. The afternoon batch (2-4pm) seems to be when most tax refunds come through.

Just checked the IRS refund status website again after seeing this. Still says processing but at least now I know Chime might deposit later in the day. Really hoping it comes through - we've got bills waiting on this money.

Have you checked your transcript for any freeze codes? Sometimes there's a delay between what the transcript shows and what's actually happening. It's like watching the weather forecast versus looking out the window - the transcript is the forecast but your bank account is the reality. Any codes like 570 or 971 showing up?

Is there a way to check specific codes on the transcript? I see some numbers but I'm not sure what they mean.

The Transaction Codes (TC) are the three-digit numbers on the left side of your transcript. Common ones to watch for: TC846 (refund issued), TC570 (temporary hold), TC971 (notice issued). If you only see TC846 with your DDD, you should be fine.

I've got a TC846 with the correct date but still nothing in my account. Does anyone know if filing jointly for the first time causes extra verification?

Chime user here. Got my DDD of 2/25 too. Still waiting. Called Chime. They said they release funds as soon as received. No holding period. Checked again at noon. Nothing yet. Will update when it hits. Stay patient. We're all in the same boat.

There's a specific pattern with the February 25th direct deposit date this year. I've tracked this on several tax forums, and most people are seeing deposits hit on February 26th (today) rather than the 25th. As of February 26th at 10:30am, about 65% of Chime users with 2/25 DDDs have reported receiving their funds. The remaining should come through by end of day according to previous patterns from January refunds.

You're right about the pattern. My first refund (filed January 29th) came exactly on the DDD. This second amended return (filed February 5th) is taking the full DDD plus one day. Seems like the later in tax season, the more likely there are delays.

Has anyone noticed if the deposit time varies by amount? Is there any truth to larger refunds taking longer to process through the banking system?

Just got mine! Came through at 2:17pm. Exactly 24 hours after my DDD time. Check your accounts everyone.

SUCCESS UPDATE: Mine just hit my Chime account! DDD was 2/25, deposit came through 2/26 at 1:42pm. According to IRS Publication 2043 (IRS Refund Information Guidelines for the Tax Preparation Community), the IRS issues refunds daily to authorized financial institutions. They're legally required to make deposits available by the next business day after receiving funds, but online banks like Chime typically process same-day when received.
