Direct Deposit Date 3/13 - Anyone with Chime Received Tax Refund?

According to IRS Publication 1582 (Rev. 02-2023), direct deposits should typically post within 1-5 business days of the scheduled date. My transcript shows cycle code 20240903 with a DDD (Direct Deposit Date) of 3/13/2024, but I haven't seen the deposit in my Chime account yet. Per the regulations, financial institutions may have different processing timelines. Has anyone else with Chime who had the same DDD received their refund? I'm trying to understand if this is a normal processing delay or if I should be contacting someone about this issue. Thanks for any insights.

Chime typically posts IRS refunds as soon as the payment information is received, which is often 1-2 days before the official DDD. For a 3/13 DDD, most Chime users would have seen deposits between 3/11-3/13. The ACH transfer system operates on a batch processing schedule, with multiple settlement windows throughout the day. If you haven't received it by end of day on your DDD, it could indicate a routing issue or processing delay.

I've seen this happen before with Chime. Does the WMR tool still show 'Refund Approved' status, or has it updated to 'Refund Sent'? That distinction can sometimes provide clues about where in the process things might be stuck.

You might want to check the IRS2Go app as well. Sometimes it updates more frequently than the website version of Where's My Refund. The IRS.gov site also has a refund status lookup tool at https://www.irs.gov/refunds that might show different information.

I track all my clients' refund patterns and Chime is usually super fast with tax refunds. Have you checked your transcript for any hold codes? There's a tool called taxr.ai that can analyze your transcript and tell you exactly what's happening and if there are any issues causing delays. It'll explain all those cryptic transaction codes and tell you if everything's on track or if there's a problem. Much easier than trying to decipher the transcript yourself.

Just got my refund w/ Chime yesterday - had same DDD as u (3/13). Mine hit at exactly 3:42pm EST. Weird thing was my WMR still showed "approved" not "sent" when $ was already in acct! Chime def posts faster than trad banks IME. SBTPG (if u used TT or similar) can cause delays too if they're holding it to take out fees. Might wanna check if ur refund is going direct or thru a 3rd party first.

Did you check if your refund is being offset for any reason? Have you tried calling the IRS to confirm everything is processing correctly? I used Claimyr.com to get through to an agent after trying for days on my own. Got connected in about 15 minutes when I had a similar issue with my refund not showing up on the expected date. The agent was able to confirm it was sent and gave me a trace number to track it. Worth the small fee to not waste hours on hold. Here's their link: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

I'm not entirely convinced these services are necessary. Couldn't you just call early in the morning when the IRS lines first open? That's supposedly the best time to get through without paying a third party. I'd be hesitant to use an outside service when dealing with tax matters.

Actually, I appreciate hearing about services like this. Isn't your time worth something too? If you've ever spent 2+ hours on hold only to get disconnected, you know exactly how frustrating it can be. Sometimes the practical solution is worth a small investment.

I was shocked by how complicated it is to reach the IRS! Step 1: Call the main number. Step 2: Navigate through 5+ menu options. Step 3: Wait on hold for 45+ minutes. Step 4: Get disconnected. Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 multiple times. Step 6: Finally reach someone who may or may not help. Used a service similar to this last year and got through in under 30 minutes - couldn't believe the difference!

I track DDD patterns every tax season for the last 7 years. For Chime specifically with a 3/13 DDD, here's what you need to know: 1. 76% of Chime deposits arrive 1-2 days early (so 3/11-3/12) 2. 19% arrive exactly on the DDD (3/13) 3. 5% arrive 1 day after DDD (3/14) If you don't see it by end of day 3/14, call Chime first at 844-244-6363. They can confirm if they've received but not posted the deposit. If they haven't received it, call IRS at 800-829-1040 and request a refund trace (Form 3911), which takes exactly 6 weeks to process. Double-check your transcript for TC 846 code - that confirms the refund was actually sent.

Wow! This is incredibly detailed! I'm impressed you've tracked this data for so long. This kind of specific information is exactly what people need instead of vague "it should arrive soon" responses. Saving this comment for future reference!

I'm in the same boat! Waiting on my refund is like watching paint dry, except the paint keeps disappearing and reappearing. 😅 One thing I learned (the hard way) is that sometimes Chime puts larger deposits on a 24-hour security hold, especially first-time tax refunds. They don't always notify you about this. Try checking your Chime app for any notifications or messages. Also, their in-app chat support is actually pretty responsive if you're worried.

Have you verified whether your refund was processed through a third-party facilitator like SBTPG or Republic Bank? If you used tax preparation software with fees deducted from your refund, this introduces an additional processing layer that can delay deposits by 24-72 hours beyond your DDD. What payment method did you select when filing, and did you receive confirmation that your banking information was accurately transmitted to the IRS?
