DeVry Debt Collection & Tax Refund Offset: Will they take my 2023 refund if transcript shows full credit?
Just checked my transcript and got a letter from Devry saying they might take my federal refund or garnish wages. Never got any prior notices about owing money. My transcript shows process date of 2/17 with full refund credit. Does this mean they won't take my refund this year?

If your transcript shows the full refund amount and a processing date, it means the offset hasn't been applied. Once the Treasury Offset Program (TOP) receives a request, it shows immediately on transcripts. You should be good for this year, but expect potential garnishment going forward. I'd contact Devry ASAP to work out a payment plan before next tax season.

im in the same boat with navient. they tried to grab my refund last year but i got lucky cause the notice came after my refund processed

Double check your transcript for code 898. Thats the offset code. if you dont see it your probably safe for now

Make sure to save copies of your transcript! Screenshot everything incase you need proof later that the refund was processed before they filed the offset
