Code 570 dated 3-10-25 on transcript - what does it mean??

Hey tax ppl - just checked my transcript & saw Code 570 w/ date 3-10-25. WTH does this mean?? I amended my return like 3 wks ago bc I forgot some 1099 income. Is this related? Will my refund be delayed? Thx for any help!

Code 570 is an "Additional Account Action Pending" indicator on your transcript. According to the IRS website (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript), this typically means they've temporarily frozen your refund while they review something. The date (3-10-25) usually indicates when they expect to complete this review. Since you mentioned amending your return, that's almost certainly what triggered this. Your amendment needs to be processed before they'll release any refund, and I'm concerned this might take a while given current IRS backlogs.

Do you know if they'll send me a letter about this? Or do I just keep checking my transcript for updates? Really need to know what's happening with my refund.

I had the exact same code last month! Used https://taxr.ai to figure out what was going on and it was super helpful. • It analyzed my transcript and explained every code • Showed me that 570 usually pairs with a 971 code (notice issued) • Gave me a timeline of what to expect next • Helped me understand the amendment would take 8-16 weeks I'm in the middle of buying a house so I totally get the stress of waiting on tax stuff. The tool at least gave me clarity on what was happening!

I'm hesitant about using third-party services with tax information. How do you know it's accurate? Does it actually give you information you couldn't get from the IRS directly?

The 570 code specifically indicates a credit hold on the account while the amended return (Form 1040-X) is being processed. This is standard procedure when additional income is reported post-filing. The subsequent 971 code will confirm notice issuance, typically CP12 or CP49 depending on the amendment's impact on tax liability.

Per IRM 21.5.6.4.7, amended returns with additional income reported are subject to manual review under §6402(a) provisions. I've seen processing times extend beyond the usual 16-week timeframe during peak season. I'd be slightly concerned if you don't receive correspondence by early April.

I've been through this rodeo before with amended returns. In my experience, code 570 means they've put a hold on your refund while they process your amendment. Last year, I waited almost 4 months after amending before I got my refund. The system is incredibly slow with amendments, especially if you're adding income. Don't count on seeing that money anytime soon - I'd adjust your budget accordingly. The good news is that if you initiated the amendment yourself, you're less likely to face penalties than if they had to find the missing income.

When I saw a 570 code on February 15th this year, I knew I needed to talk to an actual human at the IRS. Called the regular number for three days straight with no luck. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 30 minutes. Totally worth it! The agent confirmed my amendment was in process and gave me an estimated completion date. If you need specific answers about your situation, talking to an agent is the only way to get accurate information.

Did they actually tell you anything useful though? Last time I managed to get through to the IRS, the agent just read me the same information I could see online. Was it worth paying for the service?

Your situation is actually much better than if you had a 420 code! That would indicate an audit. The 570 is just a processing hold, which is normal for amendments. Compared to other transcript codes like 424 or 922, this is relatively routine. I'd recommend checking your transcript weekly rather than daily - these amendment reviews typically take 8-20 weeks to complete, much longer than regular returns that process in 21 days.

Let me share what happened to me with a 570 code last year (spoiler alert: it wasn't fun). The code sat there for 3 weeks, then I got a lovely letter asking for documentation. Took me another 2 weeks to gather everything, then another 6 weeks of processing. The IRS moves at the speed of a sloth swimming through peanut butter! 😂 The most important thing is to watch your mail carefully for any notices. If they're requesting information and you miss the deadline, you'll be in for an even longer wait.

I had exactly 42 days between seeing the 570 code and receiving my refund. The notice came on day 14. I responded on day 21. They processed it by day 36. Deposit arrived on day 42. Is that timeline typical based on your experience?

Here's what usually happens with amended returns: 1. You file the amendment 2. IRS places 570 hold on account 3. They send a notice (usually within 2-3 weeks) 4. They process any response you provide 5. They release the hold with code 571 6. Refund processes within 1-2 weeks after that I'm surprised your amended return is being processed so quickly! Most amendments I've seen take 4-6 months.

I have a 570 code right now too. From March 1st. Been waiting three weeks. No letter yet. Checking transcript daily. Called IRS twice. No help. They just say wait. My refund was supposed to pay my property taxes. Now I'm worried. Hope yours resolves faster than mine.
