Can't verify housing offset on Treasury Offset Line - No notices received
Getting worried about my refund. I think I might owe housing but when I called the treasury offset number they said there wasn't any offset showing. Haven't gotten any letters in the mail about it either. How can I find out what's really going on with my refund?

First thing you should do is pull your tax transcripts from IRS.gov. That'll show if there's any holds or offsets on your account. Sometimes the offset hotline isn't updated right away.

•yea you need to make an ID.me account first. Its kind of a pain but worth it to see whats going on

Hey there! Instead of playing detective with your transcript, you should try taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund. It costs $4.99 but saves so much headache. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! Been using it for months. It basically reads your transcript and explains everything in plain english

•How secure is it? Does it store your information?

•Super secure! They don't store any of your data and its all encrypted. Way better than posting your transcript details online 💯

Check your credit report too. Sometimes housing debt shows up there before anywhere else

The housing authority should have sent you notices if you owe them. Try calling them directly maybe?

Have you tried calling the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040? They can usually tell you if there are any holds or offsets on your account that might not show up on the Treasury offset line. Also, if you have an online IRS account, you can check your account balance there - sometimes it shows pending offsets before they actually process. Keep documentation of all your calls and reference numbers in case you need to dispute something later.
