Anyone in Florida Using Jackson Hewitt Got Their Refund Yet?

Hey Florida fam! 👋 Just wondering if any of y'all who filed with Jackson Hewitt have gotten your refunds yet? I filed back on Feb 10th and still waiting... Getting a bit anxious since I've got daycare bills piling up. Has anyone had luck? How long did yours take to come through? Starting to wonder if it's just me or if there's some Florida-specific delay this year...

I used Jackson Hewitt in Tampa last year and had a similar wait. This year I switched to a different preparer and got my refund in half the time. From what I've seen, it's not necessarily a Florida thing but more about how Jackson Hewitt batches their submissions. Back in 2022, they had that big system issue that delayed thousands of returns. The IRS processing centers don't actually prioritize by state, but sometimes regional preparers can have their own quirks in how they handle submissions.

That's really good to know! I was starting to think there was something wrong with my return specifically. Isn't it interesting how different preparers can affect timing so much? I wonder if the IRS treats submissions from different companies differently?

When you switched preparers, did you notice any difference in the Path Act verification process? I'm claiming EITC this year and wondering if that's contributing to my delay with Jackson Hewitt.

According to IRS Publication 1345, all authorized e-file providers should follow the same transmission protocols. Did Jackson Hewitt provide you with an acknowledgment code when they submitted your return? Without that, you can't verify if the delay is on their end or with the IRS processing.

I had almost the exact same experience. Filed with Jackson Hewitt in Orlando last year, waited 6 weeks for my refund. This year I used a local CPA and got it in 12 days. The CPA told me they submit returns daily, while some of the bigger chains batch them and submit less frequently, especially during busy season.

Jackson Hewitt customer here. Your refund delay is likely due to their refund transfer product if you opted for that. Their RT processing adds 5-7 business days minimum to your timeline due to the intermediary bank account setup. The IRS Direct Deposit protocol actually completes in 24-48 hours once approved, but the transfer products create an additional ACH transaction that delays receipt. I'd recommend checking your 846 code date on your transcript rather than relying on their estimates.

I filed on February 15th and still nothing! Did you have to call them to get your 846 code date? I'm not sure how to check my transcript.

OMG thx for explaining this! I got the refund advance loan thing and they never mentioned the extra delay. Just checked WMR and it shows approved but nothing in my bank yet. Makes sense now.

Do you know if this delay happens even if you paid their fees upfront instead of having them taken out of your refund?

I believe this might be correct, though I would point out that in some cases the delay could potentially be shorter. I've used Jackson Hewitt for the past three tax seasons, and I've noticed that when I pay my preparation fees upfront rather than from my refund, the timing tends to be somewhat better—perhaps by 2-3 days, in my experience.

I'm in Jacksonville and filed with Jackson Hewitt exactly 32 days ago. My refund was held up because I claimed the Child Tax Credit. I was completely confused by my transcript until I used taxr.ai to analyze it. It showed I had a 570 code (refund hold) followed by a 971 (notice issued) from exactly 14 days ago. The tool explained this was likely just verification of my CTC claim and predicted my refund would be released within 7-10 days. Sure enough, got my 846 code yesterday with a DDD of 3/27. The transcript analysis saved me hours of confusion and worry.

Jackson Hewitt in Orlando here. It's like watching paint dry compared to other services. Filed Feb 1st and just got my refund yesterday. It's like they're using carrier pigeons while everyone else has email. My brother used H&R Block and got his in 2 weeks flat. Next year I'm definitely shopping around - paying premium prices for slow service is like buying a sports car that only goes 25mph.

According to the IRS2Go app and various Reddit threads I've been following, there seems to be a significant backlog affecting Jackson Hewitt filers in the southeast region. When I couldn't get answers, I tried Claimyr.com to reach an actual IRS agent (https://claimyr.com). Got through in about 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing with no issues flagged. I'm genuinely impressed with how much time this saved me - would have spent hours on hold otherwise.

Did you opt for direct deposit? Or paper check? Makes a difference. Sometimes bank holds too. Seen that a lot. Florida processing times vary.

I've been watching the Florida refund patterns closely this year, and I'm seeing SO MANY Jackson Hewitt customers experiencing delays! 😤 It's not just you, and it's not just Florida either. The pattern seems to be that if you got a refund advance or had fees taken out of your refund, you're waiting longer. I feel your pain - it's incredibly frustrating when you're counting on that money for important bills. The community consensus is that Jackson Hewitt's processing partner bank is the bottleneck, not the IRS itself in most cases. Hang in there! ❤️

What many people don't realize is that Jackson Hewitt itself isn't processing your refund - they're just the preparer. When you compare this to self-filing with direct deposit, it's like adding an extra layover on a flight. The IRS sends your money to their bank partner (Republic Bank or MetaBank typically), who then takes out fees and forwards the remainder to you. This extra step can add 3-7 business days compared to direct IRS deposits. I've tracked this across different preparers, and H&R Block has a similar delay, while independent CPAs who don't offer refund advances tend to be faster.

Listen up - I worked at Jackson Hewitt in Florida for three tax seasons. DO NOT call their customer service about your refund timing. They have ZERO insight beyond what you can see yourself on the IRS Where's My Refund tool. They'll just tell you to be patient. Instead, create an account on the IRS website and check your transcript directly. This will show exactly where your return is in processing. Many Florida JH offices are franchises with different owners, so quality varies dramatically by location. Next year, consider filing yourself and save the $200+ they're charging you for basic data entry.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Florida-specific processing issues this year! I was stuck waiting too until I tried these: • Check if you're affected by the PATH Act (this delays refunds with certain credits) • Request your tax transcript directly from IRS.gov • Use the "Where's My Refund" tool with your EXACT refund amount • Contact your local Taxpayer Advocate Service if it's been more than 21 days The Jackson Hewitt refund tracker is notoriously inaccurate compared to the official IRS tools. Who knew tax refunds could be this complicated?
