Any Updates on Jackson Hewitt Refund Processing?

I'm wondering if anyone has had any movement with their Jackson Hewitt filed returns? I filed through them about 3 weeks ago, and I'm not seeing any updates yet. My husband and I just got married last year so this is our first time filing jointly... I'm a bit nervous about the delay. Has anyone who filed through Jackson Hewitt recently seen their refund progress? I've checked WMR daily but still just showing 'processing'. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but should I be concerned at this point?

It seems that Jackson Hewitt, like many tax preparation services, might be experiencing some delays in the current tax season. Generally speaking, e-filed returns typically process within 21 days, but there are several factors that could potentially extend this timeframe. If you're filing jointly for the first time, there might be additional verification steps the IRS is taking, which is fairly routine. I would suggest perhaps waiting until you've reached the full 21-day mark before becoming too concerned, as the IRS systems are likely still working through the high volume of returns submitted in the past month.

Thx for the info! Been freaking out a bit tbh. First time using JH and wasn't sure if it was just them or everyone experiencing delays rn. Gonna try to chill for another week I guess 😩

I waited exactly 26 days for my Jackson Hewitt return to process this year. Called the IRS 14 times and couldn't get through to anyone. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in 17 minutes. Found out my return was just in normal processing queue with no issues. For $20 it saved me hours of redial frustration and the agent confirmed everything was fine and gave me an estimated completion date.

I'm not sure paying for something like that is necessary. In my experience with H&R Block last year compared to Jackson Hewitt this year, these delays are pretty standard. Couldn't you just wait the full 21 days before spending money on a service to tell you what the WMR tool will eventually show?

Jackson Hewitt filer here too! šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļø A bunch of us are in the same boat. From what I've gathered in other threads, JH had some kind of submission backlog they were working through in early March. The good news is people who filed around 2-3 weeks ago are starting to see movement this week. Keep an eye on your transcript too, not just WMR - sometimes that updates first!

That's interesting about the transcript updating before WMR. It's like checking the back-end database instead of the customer-facing app. Do you know if this is specifically a Jackson Hewitt thing or just how the IRS systems work in general?

I filed with Jackson Hewitt on February 28th and had a 570 code on my transcript for 14 days before it finally cleared. My refund was deposited exactly 3 business days after the 571 reversal code appeared. The cycle code on my account transcript was 20240805, which meant my account updated on Thursdays.

Have you checked if you have any credits on your return that might trigger additional review? Under IRC section 6402(f), certain credits like EITC or CTC can extend processing times, especially for newly married couples filing jointly for the first time.

According to the IRS2Go app and several forum posts I've been monitoring, Jackson Hewitt returns are taking 1-2 weeks longer than average this season. I've been tracking my return using https://taxr.ai which analyzes your transcript and explains what all those codes actually mean. It helped me understand that my "still processing" status was actually moving through specific stages even when WMR showed no progress. The site shows exactly where you are in the pipeline and what to expect next based on your specific transcript codes.

I'm not entirely sure about using third-party tools with tax information. While it might be helpful, I would suggest being cautious about sharing transcript details. Have you found that the information it provides is substantially different from what you can interpret yourself from the IRS transcript?

I filed through Jackson Hewitt on February 12th and JUST got my refund yesterday! It was a nightmare - they didn't tell me there was an issue with how they submitted my education credits until I called them 3 times. Has anyone else had problems with education credits through JH this year? The rep finally admitted they had a system glitch with Form 8863 for some customers.

Jackson Hewitt is having delays this year. I work at a bank and we're seeing a pattern with tax prep services. Most DIY filers (TurboTax, FreeTaxUSA) are getting processed in 2-3 weeks. Professional preparation services like JH and H&R Block are taking 3-5 weeks right now. IRS is prioritizing simple returns first. If you're newly married with any credits or deductions, that puts you in a more complex category.

I filed through Jackson Hewitt on February 20th and I'm in the exact same situation! Also newly married and filing jointly for the first time. My WMR has been stuck on "processing" for weeks now. After reading through all these responses, it sounds like JH has definitely had some system issues this year, especially with more complex returns like ours. I'm going to check my transcript like Connor suggested - didn't even know that was a thing! It's somewhat reassuring to know we're not alone in this delay, though I wish JH had been more upfront about the processing issues they were having.

@Isaac Wright - I m'glad you found this thread helpful! It really does seem like JH dropped the ball on communication this year. Since you re'also newly married filing jointly, you might want to look for cycle code 20240805 or similar on your transcript like Keisha mentioned. That tells you what day of the week your account updates. Also, if you have any education credits or child tax credit on your return, that could be adding to the delay based on what Oliver and others have shared. Hang in there - sounds like most people are seeing movement after the 3-4 week mark!
