Anyone who filed with H&R Block got their refund yet?

Just curious about timelines this year! My wife and I filed through H&R Block on Feb 10th (first time filing jointly since we got married last fall ๐Ÿ’). We got the acceptance email right away, but still waiting on the actual refund to hit our account. Anyone else who used H&R Block this year seeing similar wait times? Or have you gotten yours already? Trying to figure out if it's just us or if there's a pattern with H&R Block filers this season.

Filed w/ H&R on Feb 8th and still nothing here. WMR just says "processing" but no bars. Getting kinda stressed tbh cuz I need that $$ for some unexpected car repairs. Anyone know if H&R is slower than other services? Shoulda gone w/ TurboTax maybe?

The tax preparation service doesn't actually impact your refund timeline. Here's what happens: 1. H&R Block submits your return to the IRS 2. IRS processes it in their queue like any other return 3. Processing time depends on your specific tax situation, not who prepared it 4. Simple returns with direct deposit typically take 21 days 5. Returns with certain credits take longer due to additional verification

According to Internal Revenue Code section 6611(e), the IRS is required to issue refunds within 45 days of the filing deadline or pay interest on the refund amount. However, this doesn't apply during the normal processing window. I was worried about the same thing last year but eventually received mine after 24 days. So relieved when it finally showed up!

I always check https://www.irs.gov/refunds and r/tax before filing to see who's processing fastest. H&R Block isn't slower than others - it's all about what's in your return. If you're still waiting and need answers, I used https://claimyr.com last week when I got worried about my delayed refund. Got through to an actual IRS agent in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. They confirmed my return was just in normal processing and nothing was wrong.

Did you actually have to pay for that service? Seems weird to pay money just to talk to the IRS. What did they tell you that you couldn't see on the Where's My Refund tool? Was it worth it?

I filed with H&R Block on February 12th and got my refund yesterday! Last year I remember waiting almost 6 weeks. The difference was I didn't claim any credits this time and had a very straightforward return. Are you claiming any credits? That usually adds at least 2-3 weeks to processing time based on what I've seen in previous years.

I've used both H&R Block and TurboTax over the years and noticed no difference in refund timing. This year I used H&R Block on January 29th and received my refund on February 15th. Last year with TurboTax I filed February 3rd and got my refund February 21st. The key difference isn't the tax prep software - it's what's on your return. If you have Child Tax Credits, Earned Income Credit, or education credits, the PATH Act requires additional verification that can add 2-4 weeks. Simple returns with W-2 income only process faster than those with 1099s or credits.

Are you sure about this? I've heard that different preparation services have different error rates that can trigger reviews. I'm skeptical that all preparation services are created equal.

Wow I had no idea about the PATH Act thing! No wonder my refund is taking forever this year. First time claiming education credits.

I filed on February 1st, 2024 with H&R Block and claimed the Child Tax Credit. Still waiting as of March 24th. This makes so much more sense now. Thanks for explaining!

Haha I feel like I'm in the express lane then! Just a single W-2, standard deduction, nothing fancy. Filed with H&R Block last Friday and already showing approved in WMR. Maybe being boring tax-wise has its advantages? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I filed through H&R Block exactly 27 days ago and received my refund exactly 19 days later. I found that using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript was super helpful - it decoded all those confusing codes and gave me a precise estimate of when my refund would arrive (was off by only 1 day). It showed me that my return was being processed normally despite the delay. Much better than just staring at the WMR tool hoping for an update!

Be careful with expectations this year. I used H&R Block and my return got caught in the Refund Integrity Verification Operation (RIVO) process which added 6 weeks to my processing time. Nothing was wrong with my return - just random selection. If your WMR shows "still processing" instead of "being processed," that's often a sign of additional verification. The IRS is particularly careful with returns claiming the Earned Income Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit due to historical fraud issues.

H&R Block user here. Got my refund. Filed February 2nd. Received March 1st. Simple return though. No credits. Just W-2 income. Direct deposit helped. No state taxes in my state. Hope this helps.

Filed with H&R Block on Feb 14th and got my refund deposited this morning! Took exactly 21 days. We're also newly married and filed jointly for the first time - no issues there. I think the key was keeping it simple - just W-2s, standard deduction, no credits. The acceptance email came through same day we filed. Don't stress too much @Ellie Lopez - sounds like you're right in the normal timeframe! The IRS 21-day processing window is just an estimate and can vary. Check your transcript on the IRS website if you want more detailed info about where your return stands in the process.

Thanks @Chloe Green! That's really reassuring to hear from another newly married couple who filed jointly with H&R Block. We also kept it pretty simple - just W-2s and standard deduction. I guess I'm just being impatient since this is our first time filing together and I wasn't sure what to expect. Good to know 21 days is pretty normal! I'll check out the transcript tool you mentioned - didn't even know that was a thing. Congrats on getting your refund!

Filed with H&R Block on Feb 5th and still waiting here too! Also filed jointly for the first time after getting married last year - seems like there are a few of us in the same boat this season. My WMR tool shows "still being processed" with no bars filled. I've been checking obsessively but trying to remind myself that 21 days is just an estimate. Seeing everyone's different timelines is actually pretty helpful - looks like it really does depend more on what's in your return than who prepared it. Fingers crossed we both get good news soon! The waiting game is definitely stressful when you're counting on that money.

@Misterclamation Skyblue Same here! Filed with H&R Block on Feb 7th, also newly married and filing jointly for the first time. It s'weirdly comforting to know there are others in the exact same situation. I keep refreshing WMR like it s'going to magically update, but I m'trying to be patient. Based on what everyone s'saying, it sounds like we re'all still within normal processing times. The stress is real though when you re'waiting on that money! Hope we all get our refunds soon ๐Ÿคž

Filed with H&R Block on Feb 6th and got my refund deposited yesterday! Also filing jointly for the first time after getting married - seems like there are quite a few of us newlyweds in the same situation this year! ๐Ÿ˜Š My timeline was pretty standard at 22 days. We had a straightforward return with just W-2 income and took the standard deduction. The "Where's My Refund" tool was stuck on "being processed" for most of the time, then suddenly updated to "refund sent" and the money appeared the next day. Don't lose hope - it sounds like you're right in the normal processing window! The IRS really does seem to stick pretty close to that 21-day estimate for simple returns.
