Finally got my DD date! Filed Feb 13th, Child Tax Credit adjustment
Just wanted to update everyone! Filed our taxes on Feb 13th and finally got our direct deposit date according to WMR and transcripts! IRS had to make adjustments to our return because of the Child Tax Credit (first year filing jointly after getting married). According to TurboTax forums and r/tax, this is pretty common this year. Looks like they're dropping deposit dates in batches - anyone else seeing updates today? 🙌

The IRS processing system is like a factory assembly line. Your return moves through different stations. First they check basic info, then they verify credits like your Child Tax Credit. When they make adjustments, it's like your return gets pulled off the main line for special attention. Once they fix it, it goes back into the system. That's why you see batches of deposit dates - they process similar cases together for efficiency.

That makes so much sense! I was wondering why they held mine for so long. They adjusted my Child Tax Credit too - I claimed $2000 for my daughter but they changed it to $1800 for some reason. Did your amount change or just the processing?

Congrats on the DD date! The waiting game is the worst part of tax season... like watching paint dry while someone occasionally throws glitter at it. 😂 When I had a similar adjustment last year, I tried calling the IRS regular number for THREE DAYS. Nothing but busy signals and disconnects. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes who explained exactly what happened with my return. Saved my sanity and probably my phone's redial button too.

Does this Claimyr service actually work? I'm always skeptical of these third-party IRS call services. How do they get you through when the regular line is jammed?

Why haven't I heard about this before? I spent literally 4 hours on hold last week trying to figure out why my refund was adjusted. Would have paid anything to avoid that torture. Is it expensive?

Just tried Claimyr after seeing this post and I'm shocked it actually worked! Got through to a real person in 22 minutes when I've been trying for days on my own. They explained: • My CTC adjustment was due to AGI phaseout limits • No further action needed on my part • DD scheduled for next Wednesday So relieved to finally have answers!

CTC adjustments are common this year. IRS is verifying eligibility carefully. They're checking against prior year data. Many returns are getting held. System is overwhelmed. Expect delays if you claimed CTC. Especially for newly married couples. Tax rules changed slightly.

When the IRS makes adjustments to your return, it's important to understand exactly what changed and why. Here's what I recommend: 1. First, get your tax transcript 2. Look for the specific adjustment codes 3. Check the amounts that changed 4. Compare to what you filed I've been using taxr.ai to analyze my transcripts this year. It translates all those confusing IRS codes and explains what each adjustment means specifically for your situation. Really helpful for understanding why they changed your Child Tax Credit amount and if you need to take any action.

Oh my gosh, the EXACT same thing happened to me and I was freaking out!!! I filed on Feb 15th and they adjusted my Child Tax Credit too! I was so worried they were going to audit us or something. My transcript showed code 570 then 971 and I was panicking. Then yesterday it updated with 846 for next Wednesday. The anxiety of waiting was TERRIBLE. Did they send you a notice explaining the adjustment? I'm still waiting for mine to arrive in the mail...

I had my CTC adjusted on March 22nd last year. The IRS sent a notice dated March 25th explaining the change. My refund was deposited on April 3rd. This year, they seem to be processing these adjustments faster. My sister filed on February 10th, had a CTC adjustment on March 1st, and received her deposit on March 8th. The IRS is definitely improving their processing times for these specific scenarios compared to previous years.

Based on the data I've collected from 127 similar cases this tax season, CTC adjustments are taking exactly 32 days on average from acceptance to deposit. The IRS is processing these in 3 distinct batches each week: Monday adjustments, Wednesday mass processing, and Friday deposit scheduling. Your timeline of filing February 13th and getting a deposit date now (April 15-17 range most likely) fits perfectly with the current processing pattern. You can expect your adjustment notice CP12 approximately 7-10 days after your deposit.

I'd be careful about assuming everything is fine just because you got a deposit date. Sometimes when they make adjustments, there might be follow-up actions needed... I've seen cases where people spent their refund, then months later got a notice asking for some back. Maybe check if the adjustment amount seems reasonable? And perhaps set aside a small portion of the refund until you get the official letter explaining the changes? Just to be safe.
