Any cycle 05 updates this week? Still waiting for transcript change
I'm a weekly cycle 05 and I've been checking my transcript every day hoping to see some movement. Filed my return back in April and got accepted right away, but it's been stuck since then. Anyone else on cycle 05 see any updates today? I keep hearing people say Thursdays are when we should see changes but my transcript still shows nothing new. Getting really frustrated watching everyone else get their refunds while mine is just sitting there.

Cycle 05 refers to the last two digits of your cycle code on your account transcript. If you have a cycle code ending in 05, your account updates weekly (typically on Thursday nights/Friday mornings). If you filed in April and still don't have movement, you might be dealing with several possibilities: 1. Your return may be under manual review 2. There could be identity verification issues 3. You might have credits that trigger additional scrutiny (EITC, CTC, etc.) 4. The IRS might be matching your information with employer documents I recommend checking your transcripts again tomorrow morning as sometimes the updates don't show until Friday. Also look at your account transcript for any Transaction Codes (TC) that might indicate what's happening. TC 570 means a hold, while 971 indicates a notice was sent. If it's been more than 21 days since you filed, you can try calling the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040, but be prepared for long wait times.

•Thanks for the info! I do have a 570 code dated from early May, but no 971 after it. No letters in the mail either. I guess I'll just keep waiting 😫

•570 with no 971 usually means their still processing something internally. There's a massive backlog this year from what I've heard.

•Exactly. A 570 without a 971 typically means they're reviewing something but haven't decided to send you a notice yet. Could be a simple verification that doesn't require your input.

I was in the exact same situation last month - cycle 05 with zero movement for 10 weeks. I finally got smart and used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. The tool explained exactly what was happening with my return and why it was delayed. It was way better than trying to figure this stuff out on our own. It showed me the specific issues causing the holdup and what to expect next. Saved me so much stress compared to waiting and wondering! https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

Ian Armstrong
•It doesn't just read it - it actually explains everything in plain English. It tells you what each code means specifically for YOUR situation and gives you a timeline of what's happened and what to expect next. The AI can even answer questions about your specific situation. I was about to hire a CPA to figure out my delay but this was so much easier!

•I just tried taxr.ai and WOW - game changer! My transcript had all these codes I didn't understand and the tool broke everything down perfectly. It even predicted when I'd get my refund and it was spot on! Everyone dealing with IRS delays needs this. Seriously, stop guessing and just use this tool!

•Do you need to upload your transcript or something? I'm always nervous about tax stuff online.

•You just need to take a screenshot of your transcript and upload it. The explanation you get back is so detailed and personalized! It's not like those generic IRS articles that don't actually help with your specific situation.

•I just tried taxr.ai yesterday after being stuck on cycle 05 for 3 months. It explained exactly why I had a freeze code and what was happening with my return. Wish I'd found it sooner tbh

Im cycle 05 too and my transcript updated this morning! After nearly 11 weeks of nothing. I got an 846 code dated for next Wednesday. Check again tomorrow - sometimes they update overnight and you might see something new in the morning.

•Congrats! That gives me some hope. Did you have any other codes before getting the 846?

•I had 570 and 971 for like 2 months, then this morning boom - 846 outta nowhere. Hang in there!

After spending literally weeks trying to get through to the IRS about my cycle 05 delay, I finally used Claimyr.com and actually spoke to a human at the IRS within an hour. The agent explained that my return was flagged for income verification but there was no letter sent (system error). Once I talked to them, they released my refund right away. Talking to an actual agent was the only way this got resolved - best decision I've made during this whole frustrating process.

•Does this actually work? I've tried calling the IRS like 20 times and can never get through...

•Yeah it actually works. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying to call for weeks. It basically keeps dialing for you and gets you in the queue, then calls you when an agent is about to pick up. Saved me from having to sit on hold for hours.

•I know right? But it worked for me. The funny thing is the agent I talked to told me my return had been sitting there ready to process for over a month, they just needed verification on one line item. Would have never known without actually talking to someone.

•I might have to try this if I don't see any movement soon. Getting desperate at this point!

not all 05 cycles update on the same day btwn. Ive been checking my account transcripts 3-4 times a day for the past 2 weeks (yeah im obsessed lol) and noticed mine actually updated on a Tuesday once. The system is a mess, nothing is consistent

Cycle 05 here too. Just checked and I got an update today! Had a 570 for the last 7 weeks, now have 571 (release of hold) and 846 (refund issued) for next Wednesday. There's hope!!!

•Did you get any letters or have to call them? My 570 has been there since May with zero movement

•Nope, never got any letters or called. Just randomly updated today after months of nothing. The IRS is so unpredictable 🤷♀️

I'm cycle 05 and went from a 570 to 846 overnight last week with no other codes in between. Check again tomorrow. The WMR tool didn't update for me until several days after my transcript showed the refund was approved.

Nothing for me either. Cycle 05 forever it seems 😭 filed in March and still stuck with a 570 code from April 10. This is ridiculous, the IRS needs to get its act together.

I was cycle 05 stuck since February (filed super early). I spent literally WEEKS trying to get through to the IRS by phone with no luck. I finally broke down and used claimyr.com after seeing it recommended here. Got a callback within 45 mins and talked to an actual agent who fixed my issue on the spot. Refund showed up in my account 8 days later. Worth every penny after months of stress.

•It's the best investment I made all year considering they helped me get my $3800 refund released. I was at my wits end after trying for months on my own.

•I used it too after almost giving up on my refund. Agent told me there was a simple error code that could be fixed immediately. My cycle 05 transcript updated 3 days later. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human!

So I'm cycle 05 and my transcript is still showing the 570 code from 2 months ago. Been calling every day for 3 weeks and can't get through. About to lose my mind. Anyone know if cycle 05 batches are particularly delayed this yr?

Today seems to be a good day for 05 cycle folks! My transcript finally updated after 14 weeks of waiting. For anyone else still waiting - hang in there! This has been the slowest tax season I can remember.

This is my first time hearing about cycle codes. Where do you even find that on your transcript? Been waiting since Feb and no idea what's happening with my return.

•Look at your account transcript. Near the top of your transactions you'll see something like "20230605" - the 05 at the end is your cycle code.

•Try using taxr.ai - it explains all the codes on your transcript and what they mean for your refund timeline. It was super helpful for me when I was confused about all this stuff.

The whole cycle system is confusing af. I'm cycle 05 and checked my transcript before going to bed last night - nothing. Woke up this morning and BOOM - 846 code with a DD date for next Wednesday! Sometimes they update in the middle of the night. Don't give up hope!

•Filed March 2, got acceptance right away, then stuck with 570 code since March 28. So about 14 weeks total! The wait was brutal but it finally moved.

I stopped trying to understand the IRS cycles and patterns because they never make sense. My transcript sat unchanged for 3 months, then suddenly updated on a random Tuesday (not even the usual Thursday update for cycle 05). The system is unpredictable at best.

After banging my head against the wall with my cycle 05 return that hadn't moved since March, I finally used taxr.ai to help me understand what was happening with my transcript. It was absolutely worth it - showed me exactly why my return was delayed (verification issue) and what I needed to do. My transcript updated 2 weeks after I took care of the issue. Highly recommend if you're stuck!

•Did it actually help speed things up or just explain what was happening?

Diego Castillo
•Both! It explained why my return was stuck (I had a code I didn't understand) AND told me exactly what to do to fix it. I would have just kept waiting not realizing I needed to take action. My refund was released 2 weeks after I followed the instructions.

•I just tried it and wow - it's amazing how much clearer everything is now. Turns out my delay is because of a simple income verification that should be resolved in the next 2 weeks according to the analysis.

If your cycle code is 05, updates typically happen Thursday night/Friday morning most of the time. But this year has been weird and I've seen people reporting updates on random days. The IRS is understaffed and way behind on processing. It sucks but there's really nothing we can do except wait.

After 11 weeks of waiting on my cycle 05 return, I finally got through to an IRS agent using claimyr.com - took less than an hour to connect with someone. Found out my return was just sitting there with a simple verification flag that could've been resolved months ago if I'd known about it. The agent fixed it while I was on the phone, and my transcript updated with an 846 code four days later. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to get things moving.

•No its just a calling service that gets you through the IRS phone system. You still talk directly to the IRS. It's basically just getting you past the hold time and 'courtesy disconnect' BS.

No update for me yet (cycle 05) but last year my refund came exactly 16 weeks after filing. Currently on week 14, so trying to stay patient. The IRS moves in mysterious ways lol
