Any cycle 0605 transcripts updated yet? Still waiting on refund
Anyone else with the cycle code 0605 see any updates on their transcripts yet? Been checking mine obsessively since I filed in February and nothing's changed in 2 weeks. When I look at previous years, I've always been a 0605 cycle and usually got updates on Thursdays/Fridays. But this year it's just sitting there with no movement. Anyone else in the same boat? And if you did see an update, how long did it take after your return was accepted? Just trying to figure out if I should be worried or if this is happening to everyone.

I'm in a similar situation with a different cycle code (0705). I've been comparing processing times between this year and last year, and it seems like everything is moving MUCH slower in 2024. Last year my refund was processed in about 10 days, but this time I'm at almost 28 days with no movement! I had no idea the cycle codes were this complicated until I started trying to figure out what was happening with my return. It's like learning a whole new language!

Did you claim any credits this year? I'm a 0605 cycle and filed exactly 34 days ago. My transcript updated yesterday with a DDD for April 17th. I'm wondering if there's something specific about your return that might be causing the delay?

Yeah, I claimed the Child Tax Credit this year, which I didn't do last year. That might be slowing things down. I remember back in 2022 when I claimed education credits, it took forever too. Just frustrating since I'm seeing people who filed after me already getting their refunds.

According to the IRS Processing Guidelines under Section 6611, cycle code processing can be delayed by up to 8 weeks during peak filing season, especially for returns with credits like the CTC. I was in the exact same situation last week - 0605 cycle with no updates for almost a month. After wasting 3 hours on hold, I used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing and there were no issues flagged. Huge relief and saved me days of stressing and redialing.

•Is paying for a service to call the IRS really worth it? Couldn't you just keep calling yourself? What happens if they can't get you through?

•I'm wondering about this too... does this service actually work consistently? Has anyone else tried it with success?

•I've recommended Claimyr to several clients who needed immediate answers about their refund status. Check out their reviews online - they have a very high success rate. The IRS phone lines are currently experiencing 3+ hour wait times according to their latest update, and many callers are being disconnected due to high call volume. If you need an answer quickly, the service fee can be worth avoiding the frustration.

•I was somewhat skeptical at first, but I should note that I've used it twice now - once last year and once this February. In both cases, I was connected within 20 minutes. I had previously spent about 4 hours over 2 days trying to get through on my own. While I generally prefer to handle things myself and not pay extra fees, in this particular case, the time saved was definitely worth it for my situation.

Have you checked the Where's My Refund tool too? Sometimes that updates before the transcript does. Also, did you file electronically or by paper? The paper returns are moving at a glacial pace this year... or as I like to call it, "IRS Standard Time" 😂

I was a 0605 last year and this year. Here's what happened with mine: 1. Filed electronically on February 3rd 2. Return accepted same day 3. No transcript updates for 21 days 4. WMR showed one bar the entire time 5. Transcript suddenly updated on March 2nd (day 28) 6. Refund deposited March 7th (day 33) The key thing I learned is that patience is unfortunately necessary with the IRS. As long as you haven't received any notices requesting additional information, your return is likely just working its way through their system. The processing delays this year are affecting many filers, especially those with credits.

•Did you see any particular codes on your transcript before it updated with the refund date? I'm looking for patterns of what to expect.

•Did your WMR update at the same time as your transcript or was there a delay between them?

•My transcript hasn't updated at all. WMR still shows one bar. It's been 31 days since acceptance. Getting worried now.

Has anyone with a 0605 cycle who filed in early March seen movement yet? I'm in the same boat as OP but filed a bit later. Last year I remember getting my refund exactly 17 days after filing, but this year it seems like everything's moving in slow motion.

•I filed on March 7th with a 0605 cycle code. My transcript updated on April 2nd and shows a deposit date of April 10th. It was exactly 26 days from filing to transcript update, which is longer than the 21 days they promise but at least it's moving now. Such a relief after weeks of checking daily!

•Are you checking your transcript directly or using the WMR tool? The transcript is generally more accurate for cycle updates.

If you're a weekly cycle code like 0605, your account typically updates on Thursday nights/Friday mornings. I'd recommend checking your transcript tomorrow morning. The IRS Master File processing occurs in batches, with weekly cycles (05 ending cycles) processing on Thursdays. If there's no update by next week, you might want to request a tax account transcript rather than just a return transcript, as it sometimes shows different processing stages.

Think of the IRS processing system like a massive traffic jam where some lanes move faster than others. Your cycle code is like your lane assignment. Sometimes being in the 0605 lane is great, other times it's the slowest one on the highway. From what I've seen across multiple tax seasons, there's no real advantage to any particular cycle code - it's more about what's in your return. Credits like CTC or EIC are like driving a wide load that requires special handling and slows everything down.
