Cycle Code 0605 Not Updating Yet - Anyone Else?

So what cycle code is updating..I am 0605 and nothing for me yet. It's been exactly 32 days since I filed and I need this refund for medical bills. Everyone else seems to be seeing movement but those of us with 0605 are just sitting here waiting? Seems suspicious to me but maybe I'm missing something.

I'm seeing a lot of movement with cycle codes 0705 and 0805 as of April 2nd. The IRS typically processes in batches, and the 0605 cycle appears to be moving slower this tax season. Many 0605 filers from March 15th are just now seeing updates. Have you checked your transcript for any codes like 570/971? Those would indicate why yours might be delayed beyond the normal cycle pattern.

I appreciate this information. I've been wondering why my 0605 seemed to be moving so slowly compared to others. It's somewhat reassuring to know it's not just my return specifically.

Thank you. This helps. Been worried. Thought maybe I did something wrong. Good to know it's the cycle code.

Do you know when 0605 is expected to update next? I have medical bills due on the 15th and was counting on this refund!

I had the same cycle code last year and waited 54 days total. According to Publication 1345 section 7.1, the IRS doesn't guarantee processing times even when they assign cycle codes. Found that out the hard way when budgeting for last year's expenses. Never expected it would take so long!

I was in the 0605 cycle last year and got so frustrated with the lack of updates. The IRS website barely tells you anything useful. I started using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it actually explained that 0605 was processing slower due to verification queues. The tool showed me exactly which codes were holding things up and predicted my DDD accurately even before WMR updated. Seriously saved my sanity during the waiting game.

I'm not convinced these third-party tools actually have any special insight into IRS systems. They're probably just making educated guesses based on the same information we can all see on our transcripts. Has anyone verified their predictions are actually more accurate than just following the standard processing timeline?

How much does this cost? And does it need access to personal information? I'm desperate for answers about my refund but hesitant to share sensitive data.

I've been tracking cycle codes for the past three tax seasons, and 0605 consistently moves in waves. Based on my experience, when you're stuck waiting, calling the IRS is the only way to get real answers. I wasted 3 hours on hold last week trying to reach someone. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 22 minutes. They confirmed my 0605 return was in the verification queue but had no issues flagged. At least I know it's not lost in the system now.

Wait, you can pay to skip the IRS phone queue? That seems like it shouldn't be allowed. Shouldn't everyone have equal access to government services?

They don't actually let you skip the queue. From what I understand, they use an automated system to wait on hold for you and then call you when they reach an agent. The IRS doesn't know or care who's waiting on the line.

Thank you for sharing this! I've been trying to get through to the IRS for days about my 0605 cycle code. Going to try this service tomorrow.

For those technically inclined, here's what's happening with cycle codes right now: 1. Cycle code format is YYYYWWC where YYYY=year, WW=processing week, C=day of week 2. 0605 = 2024, week 06, Thursday processing 3. Current processing week is 14 The IRS is dealing with a 22% increase in returns compared to this time last year (not kidding, check the IRS operations page). This is causing all Thursday cycles to experience delays of approximately 8-12 days beyond normal processing times. 😅 The good news? Once your transcript updates, refund typically follows within 5-7 days.

This is incredibly helpful information. I didn't realize the code could be broken down like that. Makes much more sense now why it's taking longer.

So does this mean all Thursday filers are delayed? Or just specific weeks?

When you say refund follows 5-7 days after transcript update, is that business days or calendar days? I need to plan for when I can pay these medical bills!

I've been tracking the 0605 cycle code specifically this tax season. Here's what I'm seeing: • 0605 returns filed before February 15th: Most have received refunds • 0605 returns filed Feb 16-28: Currently updating this week • 0605 returns filed March 1-15: Just starting to show transcript updates • 0605 returns filed after March 15: Still in early processing The good news is that 0605 batch is processing, just more slowly than other cycles. If you're not seeing updates, check these common delay factors: • Claimed refundable credits (CTC, EITC) • Identity verification needed • Missing information • Math errors Hang in there - the batch is moving, just slower than we'd all like!

Just a word of caution from someone who's been through this before... I had cycle code 0605 last year and made the mistake of counting on a specific date for my refund. Called the IRS after waiting 6 weeks and found out my return had been pulled for "random review" despite having no errors. The cycle code doesn't guarantee anything if they decide to review your return. Did you claim any credits that might trigger extra verification? Have you checked your transcript for any 570/971 combination codes?
